A little update
I finally decided to wait it out and go for the polo 1.6 I absolutely loved the instant power delivery (compared to our vento atleast) and the smooth 5speed gearbox it also met all my parents criteria for safety. I managed to find a good well maintained example relatively close to my house at a decent price but the only condition was that I could have the car no sooner than the first week of March (I saw the car in October) I had it fixed that this would be my car and I couldn't digest driving any other car in my mind hence I decided to wait it out and completed all the paper work and payments in this period. Finally yesterday after a wait of almost 5 months I took delivery of my first car

I think thats a great choice for a first car. The fact that its a Polo 1.6, used and has those tasty rims on it just sweetens the deal! Enjoy in good health

UPDATE!
I've completed a little over 6 months with the car now and the experience so far has been absolutely delightful! I've completely fallen for the car and cannot imagine a single day without it. I've also made some changes to the car since I've got it. Firstly about a month after I got the car the rear shock absorbers gave up co-incidentally right on my way back from the first service. Since the rear shocks had never been changed its pretty much normal wear and tear and got new bilstein B4s for the rear which are basically the same as oem shock absorbers.

I also did a brake service, oil change and got the filter cleaned and she was given a clean bill of health.

Next I got the GTI badges off the car as well clearly it's not a GTI. Also got rid of the ugly Volkswagen and polo 1.6 badge I prefer a clean look
When I bought the car the owner had told me that the tyres don't have more thank 6months/10K kms left in them they had decent tread left on them but the sidewall had developed a lot of cracks hence got them replaced the earlier tyres were S drives 205/50/16 I switched over to a new set of continental mc5 tyres after bhp-Ian @prince85's recommendation and went for 195/55/16 profile the ride is now much much better with these tyres

I got the car with 52,971 kms on the odo and now she stands at just over 59.2k kms I have taken the car to aamby valley with my friends and she was an absolute to hoot to drive on those twisty roads combined with the induction noise bouncing off the walls of bushy dam was just pure bliss. In Bombay she was the secondary car the car that was only taken out on 'special' occasions I have since shifted to Karnataka and the car sees proper use here I do daily of minimum 30kms here. I drove her down here and she performed absolutely faultlessly. Will the end the post with some shots taken over the last few months.
