Question Help required to select a Car

Friends,
I currently own a Santro for last 8 years and its time for changing the same. I have considered various options, but couldn't finalize on anything yet. I need your expert views and help to finalize on my car. I wanted to start from a clean slate, hence not mentioning the cars I considered so far.

Background:
Budget - Max upto 8.25 L OTR Bangalore
Usage - 70% City, 30% Highway (Around 9K overall per annum)
Capacity Required - 2-3 Adults, 1 Kid (8 yr old) on 85% of time, 15% with 4-5 adults
Outstation travels - 3-4 times per year for 2-3 Adults, 1 kid
Driving style - Mostly sedate - Enjoys the travel rather than performance

Must have:
Safety - ABS is a must
Ride quality including seating comfort for driver as well as passengers
Interior fit and finish is must - Cannot tolerate rattles and parts coming out
Decent leg room and space for average built people
Decent FE - 10-11 in city and 14-15 in highway
Decent After Sales Support
Comfortable to drive
Power steering, Power Windows, MP3 player etc..

Nice to have:
Any other including in console features, ACC, Airbags, Alloys etc.

Thanks all for your help and support

Looking at the usage details, I assume that you are looking for a petrol car and based on the must have parameters and the usage details, I would recommend you to check out the SX4 or Honda Jazz.

Try the FIAT Linea Emotion. Meets almost all of your criteria.
I think the Petrol will be better suited to your needs.

I would suggest to go for Hyundai i20 Diesel. Since you are already a customer of Hyundai, you can think off it.

Your budget + requirements point toward a Hyundai i20 or Honda Jazz. I have a feeling you'll prefer the latter. Test both, look up reviews in the forum before deciding.

With what you have mentioned, I believe the best options you have are:

FIAT Linea
FIAT Punto
Honda Jazz
Indica Vista Quadrajet
Hyundai Verna
Hyundai i20
Suzuki SX4

All reviews in the forum for you to decide which one you wish to test

my 2 pence -

if you don't need a boot:
1. i20 - watch out for 1.2 ltr engine and low seating. Dash and features are excellent. Diesel may not make sense based on the kms you are targetting per year.
2. Jazz - if VFM is not something you are worried about then you can go for it. watch out for plain looks.

if you need boot:
1. Linea Emotion+ or SX4
2. Hyundai Verna

Do you need the boot? If not, look at the i20. It offers good space, is comfortable, high quality interiors and is amongst the safest out there.
If not, give the Linea, SX4 a try.

if you need rear leg room, i20 is very poor in that respects.

I'd say go for the Jazz. It is at the top end of your budget and a lot of people might argue that it isn't VFM but it meets all your needs and has the guarantee of Honda refinement and quality. The i20 is decent too but between the straight H and the slanted one, I'd go with the straight one (not to mention that the jazz is more spacious).

What are your boot requirements like? If you don't need one then go with the Jazz. If you do need one, then I'd say look at the Verna or Linea. Both are great sedans. I'd suggest you avoid Maruti if you aren't ok with an average (at best) interior fit and finish.

I'd do for the i20diesel. It ticks most of your boxes, or the Honda jazz. Both have bigg-ish boots. unless you really want a saloon, these two would suit you best!

Linea emotion + is a good choice. it ticks all boxes except

there are bound to be a few niggles which we owners have suffered. But most of it only in initial lineas.

My another option would be fiesta petrol too.... Just check it out

I suggest the Punto, i20 or Linea. Though based on my experience the Punto and Linea will be out because of the following requirement.

"Interior fit and finish is must - Cannot tolerate rattles and parts coming out"

If you can deal with a few rattles and some bad plastics the Linea/Punto cannot be beat!
