Default BhoomiPutra to A Car

I had started a thread before, but since this forum doesnt allow to edit posts, I could not edit my preevious thread which was incomplete.

Anyways, I currently do no own a car, yes thats true. Because we belong to a City Agricultural Family so my dad never bothered to get a car for himself apart from a Mahindra Bhumiputra Tractor.

I am in dilemma in some of my choices, not sure what to do. Since this is our first car, I am going to hit the bank balance. I have certain options:

1. Buy two cars, one sedan and one SUV (Both Luxury).
2. Get one Luxury sedan and SUV
3. Luxury SUV and Small Car
4. Or get one 320D or Merce C220

In Sedan, after 320D and C220, I only like Skoda Laura and Octavia, in SUV, my personal choice is ford endy for Luxury and Tata Safari for the other one.

So what would be the wise choice?

There isnt a particular requirement on what a car would be decided.

Bmw 320d is a small sedan. But it is more reliable than the merc(BMW has a service package). For a luxury suv wait for the fortuner.

Are you comfortable with petrol luxury sedans ?
Also what is the max budget ?
1) Luxury sedan and SUV.
Sedan : As per your liking. Apart from Skoda, you can also try VW.
SUV : a) Ford Endy
b) Chevrolet Captiva
c) Wait for Fortuner. Somewhere in other thread its mentioned that launch date is Aug 24.

Ok Just tell me, How good is Endy 4x2 in terms of Servicing Cost, Ownership costs and Maintainance Costs, not talking about any accidents, dents or something.

Same is the case of Laura and 320D

I just noticed that I am more inclined towards the Old Skoda Laura. Want to know, since the Skoda Laura is with a new design, is the old one is still available to buy brand new? If so, whats the price?

no one is here to help poor guy?

What is your total budget?

and how much do you want to spend on the car and how much on the SUV?

There are a lot of good vehicles out there that you can buy.

If you want one car, I would suggest the 520d.
However, I would suggest one small car, say the i20 AT for daily use, and a luxury SUV like the fortuner or a luxury sedan like the new A4/3 series for family outings etc.

@Lambo, I can settle for one car for now, and may be after some 8 months, I can buy a new one. For normal Use, I have Skoda Octy/Laura(If I got one), VW Jetta in my list.

@Quickdraw, thanx for the info.

But I will also see, if I can get a good LAura with in 10k mileage. Because that was my first choice when I was thinking of buying a car.

One thing more, what are packages and all available with BMW, I dont want to look dumb at BMW Dealership. So any information would be great,

Dude I think I understand your point. I come from a similar farming family.

I would suggest that you go for a Ford Endy for the SUV it will be around 15 lakhs ish you can use it on the farm rough use it do what ever with it with no hard feelings. You can even use it to haul stuff every once in a while couple of bags of Urea in the back wont hurt

On the sedan side I would say go in for the BMW 320d about 26 lakhs ish on the road. You can use this for more non farm use and it has the prestige of a BMW also with the maintenance program I think it will work out well.

HAHAHA!! Agree on the part of Urea, even I once told my Day that it would be easy for you to carry Urea Bags in a SUV and getting to fields with A/C, Music and Power Steering

Anyways, Endy is Final.

And I am now more inclined to the 5 series Bimmer.

But I am really confused betweem all the models of 5 Series. So can you help?

Thats cool. Endy it is for the SUV!

I love the 5 Series the only reason I did not suggest it in the first shot is because you mentioned that your budget is around 40 Lakhs so 15 ish for endy plus 26 ish for 3 Series bringing the total close to your budget.

Now coming to the 5 Series we in Punjab love diesel cars. So I would say that the ideal choice would be 530d. But that would cost you close to 40 lakh ish I think.

I could also debate that buy the SUV as diesel and buy the car as petrol. In that case 525i it is. I drive the 525i here in NY except for the cup holders that keep hitting your legs I love the car.

I did not suggest 520d because I think it might be under powered. I have not driven it personally and it is just an impression I have.

The budget for buying a car at moment is 40 lacs. I mean I do not have any plan to buy both cars on single day. Its like one in a months time and the second after 3 or 4 months.

So Endy and 5er will be bought in a six month's Time.

Me too prefer diesal

I just want to know, apart from power, what other Main features are there which award 530d best?

If you are looking at a BMW, the 520d offers the best VFM. It is decently fast, and has nearly the same kit. Some additional features that may be missing would be the bigger alloys, sunroof, etc.
