Length x width x height x wheelbase dimensions of the Ignis come in at 3,700 mm x 1,660 mm x 1,595 mm x 2,435 mm respectively. The Ignis is based on Suzuki's new compact passenger car platform and 50.1% of the car's body weight is made of high-strength steel. Depending on the variant, the Ignis weighs between 880 - 920 kg.

All variants of the Ignis come installed with Suzuki's SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild hybrid system and a 1.2L DUALJET engine (K12C) that is capable of delivering a fuel efficiency figure of up to 28.8 km/l (as per JC08 test cycle). The engine is a DOHC, 16-valve unit and delivers 90 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm of torque @ 4,400 rpm. The engine is aided by an electric motor that produces around 3 BHP and 50 Nm of torque with transmission duties carried out by a CVT gearbox.

The Ignis also gets the option of all-wheel drive with hill descent control and grip control for downhill and snow / slippery road driving assistance. The car has a ground clearance of 180 mm.

The feature list includes a 50:50 split, separately adjustable rear seat with a sliding and reclining mechanism, Apple CarPlay support, navigation, heated front seats, dual-camera brake support, lane departure alert, front and side airbags and cruise control. Maruti Suzuki will be presenting the Ignis at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo and is expected to launch it this year.
