Yamaha R25 concept displayed at Tokyo Motor Show

Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha, has unveiled the R25 concept at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. Powered by a 250 cc, liquid-cooled, fuel injected, parallel twin-cylinder engine, the motorcycle is going to be put into production from next year.

Borrowing styling cues from the YZR-M1 MotoGP racer, the aggressively styled R25 looks like a track focused sportsbike. The bike is full faired with a large air intake, which will certainly be replaced with a set of twin headlamps on the production version. Other features include an all-new chassis, telescopic front fork and monoshock rear suspension, LED tail lamp and a split seat. Both, the front and rear wheels have single disc brakes. Power and torque figures for the R25 have not been revealed. However, we must remember that this is just a concept and there will be a few changes before the bike makes it to production. It is possible that the engine could be swapped with a single-cylinder unit.

We expect Yamaha to show the R25 at the Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014. The bike is likely to be launched and sold in India later, where it will take on the Honda CBR 250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. Yamaha will have to build it locally, to keep the price competitive.
