XUV Aero Coupe

Before the unveil:


Looks sleek, and has a bit of that X6 vibe towards the rear:

Mahindra SsangYong Tivoli

This compact SUV was yet to be "unveiled" at the Mahindra stall:


And here it is uncovered:


The Tivoli is SsangYong’s first new model developed since it was acquired by Mahindra:

Not Your Average Thar

This monster is sure to draw a lot of eyeballs:


The red pin-stripe carries around the car, and even the accessories like the high-lift jack share the colour scheme:


Some really tasteful details, like the red outline on the snorkel opening:


Ginormous Maxxis Trepador tyres (37x12.50r16lt):


The interior too has the red highlights. There's forward-facing rear seats at the back:


LED taillight clusters. Note the rear bumper as well:

Modified TUV300 & KUV100

Speaking of modifications, the changes on this TUV really help its otherwise blocky & flat looks:


The flat and bulky stock front-end has been nicely diffused by the modified bumper:


However, the protruding grille slats, while certainly unique, are a bit weird:


The rear end has shaped up nicely too:


Accents with a brushed metal look on the tail-lamps match nicely with the matte paint job:


Body-cladding and alloys too:


The spare tyre cover is neat. Minimal, yet rugged looking:


On the other hand, the team has managed quite a feat with the KUV100...

...they've managed to make a rather ugly car, uglier


Who knows though, it might still be a hit in urban India. Gotta say that Mahindra usually knows their customers very well!


Some people might wonder why there is another door handle on the tail-light :

Mahindra Electric

We've been hearing of the Electric Verito for quite a while now. Mahindra is inching towards the launch. There's talk of an electric KUV100 too:


Also on display was the Electric Supro (Mahindra's 8-seater van, usually diesel):

One more car at the Mahindra Electric pavilion was under wraps. It's the Mahindra Reva e2o Sport:

Don't miss the spec sheet! 0-100 = 8 secs, with a max speed of 120 km/h


Given how fun the e2o was to drive, I can only imagine this being a complete hoot!

Racing Zone

Don't forget about Mahindra's racing involvement!

They participate in the FIA Formula-E (electric) and Moto3 World Championships.

That was probably an inspiration for the racing-zone in their stall:







The Usual Suspects:

Nothing much for the average BHPian to see here, but this display of stock & currently on-sale Mahindra cars will be a big hit on the days when the general public comes in to touch, feel, sit and selfie with everything:









Interestingly, Eddy & .anshuman noticed that a lot of visitors from other auto companies were checking out the KUV -- in particular, the implementation of the center-front seat!

These might be the first photographs of the Mahindra stable released anywhere today. Great work Eddy and Anshuman!

Its strange that Mahindra chose Day2 for unveiling the XUV Aero concept, especially when there were no important launches from them scheduled today.

What a pathetic show by them. Looks like XUV aero concept is the only saving grace, that too just a concept.

A very disappointing exhibit from Mahindra, with only the SsangYong Tivoli having any real significance. Waiting for the unveil. Tivoli has decent reviews in Europe.

The XUV 5OO Aero concept might remain just that, a concept.

PS - What about the two - wheelers from Mahindra? Mojo and the scooters given a miss?

Not commenting anything on the products they have displayed. But every time I hear the names of their new products, I feel like crying . Some day when they run out of names, they will start naming products like "Maaro", "Peeto", "Bhaago", "Looto" etc. Whoever is behind this naming strategy, I feel has gone bonkers.

Very nice coverage of the stall. Eager to see XUV Aero.

I was rather stunned with the comparison of KUV100 with Grand i10. I didnt realize they were the same league. All of the Mahindra cars have the *UV look, with the exception of the Verito. I think Mahindra should try a little more on the regular-car, the one you dont have to look rugged.

The body design looks similar to the Komodo concept:



While the design is nothing close to reality, but marrying XUV design to this body frame might actually drawn some attention.
