Emoji, DM, #BlueRoom pop-up: Twitter gears up for Auto Expo

NEW DELHI: Twitter on Tuesday announced a collaboration with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to launch several features for the upcoming "Auto Expo-The Motor Show 2018,' including the first-ever emoji for an automotive show in Asia.

As part of the collaboration, Twitter will host a special #BlueRoom pop-up show onsite, livestream highlights from the event and make available a custom "Auto Expo" emoji for fans.

A global aspirational SUV as well as a 'Stinger concept' of one of the company's popular SUVs will also be displayed at the expo,

Hyundai has announced its plans for the 2018 Auto Expo. The company's pavilion is situated in Hall No. 3 and will have 15 cars on display. The theme of the pavilion will be "Experience Hyundai".



Hyundai's exhibits will be divided into different zones. The "Eco Friendly Zone" will have the Ioniq in its three different versions - hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric on display. The Kona compact SUV will be showcased at the "Kona Zone", while Hyundai's performance sub-brand N will be part of the "Mobility Zone".

Hyundai's local product line-up will be showcased at the "Jai Ho Zone". We can expect to see all the models that are currently on sale in India including the Eon, Grand i10, i20, i20 Active, Xcent, Verna, Elantra, Creta and Tucson.

Additionally, the Hyundai pavilion will have a robotics display, a "Road Safety Zone" and recreational activities like driving simulators as well as a "Kids Zone" and a "Sports Zone".

DC Design will be unveiling it's all-new mid-engined sports car named "TCA" (Titanium, Carbon fibre and Aluminium) at the Expo.

Based on a heavily reworked version of the Avanti platform, the wider and longer "TCA" is powered by a 4.0L V8 engine putting out more than 400HP. It is mated to a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

In terms of design, the TCA is likely to head into a new direction. As the teaser image reveals, the car will sport cleaner bodywork with fewer lines than on the Avanti. With the increase in size will come the need for more power, and DC will equip the TCA coupé with a 4.0-litre V8 engine that will make upwards of 400hp. That's a big step up from the Avanti, which employed a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine putting out 250hp.
One of the biggest grouses with the Avanti was its heavy clutch, and so, instead of a six-speed manual, the new coupé will get a seven-speed torque converter automatic sending power to the rear wheels. The significant increase in power and the use of lighter materials in its construction should better the Avanti's 0-100kph time (6sec) and top speed (electronically limited 200kph) with ease.
Despite it being significantly different from the Avanti, the TCA is expected to be priced at just under Rs 40 lakh, which would it make it only slightly more expensive than the Avanti, and the most affordable V8-engined car in the country – by some margin.

Tata motors teaser, door trims of the SUV?

From the reveals, it looks like Tata is onto something with those Q50x models.

As posted earlier, the [5 seater?] Q501 model is going to be a mid-size SUV pitted against the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass.

Is this mid-size SUV's top-end variant expected to be priced at ~16-17 lakhs on-road? Or is that too less to expect? Their features seem to be going for a lot of fancy, albeit likeable.

Can't wait for the Expo reveal.
