Re: Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018

The Kia Picanto

The Kia Picanto is aimed towards first time buyers and sits in the entry-level segment in company's line up. The sub 4m car is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 83 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 122 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The engine is Euro 6 compatible and powers the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

The GT line trim showcased here gets a black faux-grille with red insets, a large air dam finished in piano black and a 3-slat trim at the bottom. It gets projector headlamps and square fog lamps that are housed inside the air dam:
Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018-aaa_9942.jpg

The small car also gets chrome door hands, ORVM mounted turn indicators and a side skirt with a dash of red. Simple looking 16-inch, 8-spoke alloy wheels are shod in a 195/45-section rubber. It is a given fact that this low profile tyre will be swapped with a more practical (and common) size when launched:
Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018-aaa_9943.jpg

The rear gets C-shaped taillights that house the brake and indicator lamps. The bumper houses a single reverse light on the left and a fog lamp on the right. The Picanto gets 3 parking sensors. Lower part of the bumper is black with a red piece and it gets a chrome tipped dual barrel exhaust:

Re: Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018

The Kia Rio

The Kia Rio measures 4,065 mm long, which means engineers at Kia will have to trim 65 mm off the car if then wish to take advantage of the sub 4-meter rule. It is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine that makes 99 BHP @ 4,500 rpm and 172 Nm @ 1,500-4000 rpm. With the gross weight at a light 1,600 kg, this car is sure to offer a peppy drive. This too is a Euro 6 compatible unit and the power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Rio gets a covered-up flat grille finished in piano black, an oval shaped air dam with a rectangular mesh, projector headlamps and small fog lamps located on the side vents:
Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018-aaa_9947.jpg

Clean side profile. The multi-spoke alloy wheels are finished in a gunmetal shade and shod in practical 195/55 R16 tyres:
Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018-aaa_9950.jpg

The Rio gets a black and while bumper, two-piece tail lamps (half each on the boot and the body) and a hand grab below the Kia logo. The black part of the bumper gets two safety reflectors and houses the number plate in the center. Surprisingly, the car gets only 2 parking sensors that are located in the middle:

Re: Kia Motors @ Auto Expo 2018

Go big or go home!
Its great to see an automaker show so much enthusiasm in the Indian market. Their global product range and all the "paraphernalia" to go with it. I can't believe they brought the Stinger GT. K900/K9 is probably the the only one that is missing.
I wonder what their product road map looking like. SUV as a go-to-market strategy tells us that they are not here to compete with Suzuki and hence may not offer Picanto/Rio for a while.
I am sure Hyundai would have home schooled them already.
