Uniti One Electric Cars @ Auto Expo 2018

Uniti, a Swedish electric carmaker and the Bird Group, an Indian business conglomerate, have announced today the start of a joint analysis in India. The two companies plan to launch a 100% electric city car in the Indian market by 2020 with a price tag starting from Rs. 7,14,000 (ex-showroom). The car is called the Uniti One. While a 5-seater version is planned for India, a 2-seater version has been displayed at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Uniti plans to bring the One EV in a 5-seat configuration to the Indian market. The Swedish 2-seater version has a dry weight of 450 kg. Uniti is targeting a 5-star NCAP safety rating:

Priced at Rs. 7,14,000 (ex-showroom), one can pre-order the One for a refundable amount of Rs. 1,000:

One is built on a carbon fibre frame. Powertrain is developed in collaboration with Williams Advance Engineering (UK). They are currently using a Siemens Valeo electric drive system similar to that found on the Volvo's. It has a steer-by-wire system and a claimed range of 200 km on a single charge:

Notice how the door forms a part of the wheel arch. The flap on the bonnet is where the socket for the plug-in charger. The car comes with a removeable auxilliary battery system:

This particular prototype has hub mounted motors at the back. The final production one might get axle mounted motor:

This 2-seat, European model debuted in Landskrona, Sweden last December with deliveries scheduled for 2019:

The One has an electronic steering system and autonomous driving function. You get a head-up display as well:

Doors are large, but do not seem to open very wide. Ambient lighting is provided at various places in the cabin:
