Hi Tejas, all the Jeeps do not carry roll cages and seat belts, specially the vintage JEEPS. Our JEEPS from HYD specially the CJ3A,CJ3B and CJ5s do not have roll cages and seatbelts and they are not required , please be advised we cannot install seat belts and roll cages to these JEEPS, since they are done up JEEPS , please lets us know if we can participate because there are about 12 JEEPS coming from Charminar offroad club HYD of which 7 of them are Vintage JEEPS.

Regards Sandeep.

My vehicle too does not meet the requirements as stated by you. Please let us know at the earliest if we can participate, so that we make alternate arrangements.

Re: Examm is back! 16th & 17th July, 2011

Dear Tejas,
Even my 1987 MM540 does not have seat belts, nor there is a provision for a direct bolt on, the B pillar has to be drilled and holes to made to afffix one, Though I trying to source a seat belt and plan to get it fixed, but lead time to do all these is very short. Please let me know whether my "vintage 540" qualifies or not.

Warm Regards

@Tejas: So are you guys going to relax the rules? Seat belts save lives in case of accidents. Vintage jeeps are good to look at but fixing a seat belt does not take more than 2 hours at most if given to a competent person!!

^^ Right Headers, especially in case of a b-pillar jeep things get very easy to fix a seat belt. Andy - get it done yaar, it takes may be an hour with the guy who cut your chassis to change the steering box. (Get new indica seatbelt assy from JC Road)

@ Santosh, I am already on the job,my biggest worry is that fixing of seat belts is a scientific job,I doubt whether my mechanic has technical ability to do the same.
@Bangalore Jeepers, if any of you have done this mod job and comfortable with it,please let me know from where you got it done.

Warm Regards

Guys,

Rules are for your safety and the safety of your passengers. Dear Frankenstein, as explained to you over the phone this morning, we cannot compromise on safety. It was nice to hear that you guys will try to work something out.

@MileCruncher, you will be missed. Try a last minute entry if possible.

Roll cage is more important than seat belts, so work on a cage first before the belts. Its sometime better to eject if you dont have a proper cage?

A seat belt is more important for a SAFE and comfortable offroad - I am speaking out of experience here.

A mind cannot / does not think while the vehicle is rolling and ejecting to safety happens only in movies! - In real life, the situation has been different!

Ok i was just voicing my opinion, i would still advocate "both" seat belt and roll cage for the newb's like me.

I have never seen a movie where someone ejects from a 4x4, all the youtube video's show more gory scene's.

Re: Examm is back! 16th & 17th July, 2011

This year I had badly wanted to participate in this at least as a passenger. Unfortunately I will be in the train traveling from Kerala to Pune on those days. Will miss all the fun. Great going Tejas and co. Good to see the great improvement in organizing this over the last year. Is your "NEW" vehicle getting unveiled for the event?
