Tug of war events - Do we have them here?

In the western offroading scene, I have come across a popular 4x4 sport, and it appears fairly common among offroad clubs.
Its called, Tug of war. Most of you must have understood, what I mean, but let me explain to others what I could gleam from the videos

1. Find hard slippery ground - Wet grass seems the favorite
2. Both vehicles are tied with a tow strap at the rear ends, and then start pulling at each other
3. The vehicle which is dragged across the center line loses.

So its very much like a tug of war, but with 4x4s.

I was wondering if people do this in OTRs here.
One danger could be high change of the tow strap breaking, so probably you would need to use a strap of 4x thickness.

Otherwise, this sounds like a fun thing to do on OTRs.

Sounds fun but i wouldn't do it on my vehicle.

One is the risk factor involved and the other is that it puts unnecessary strain on the tow points and chassis.

What if you do not press clutch, merely accelerator. With slippy enough ground, all you will get is wheelspin in low ratio, right?
