Let me start by thanking everybody who attended the AKC

I have met a lot of hardcore jeepers and made a lot of new friends.

Thanks a lot everybody and out of towners have a safe trip back.

Guys I am putting up some of the pictures from the evening before the event and of the event briefing.
I request all the participants to share their own stories, pictures and videos from the event.

Kunal

Thanx for giving us such an hardcore trail, loved it.

The next year we need two days of off roading,

The hospitality was great

Your spotting and technical knowledge is what we need to learn.

Will upload the pictures soon.

Re: The 2011 Alfa Kilo Challenge!

Awesome event!!

met so many fine gents from Hyderabad, Mumbai and ammchi Pune!!

thanks to Ritesh, Subhendra and Matin for giving me the ride.
A special mention of Ritesh and his machine, he has got a supernatural connect with his machine, those who have seen his green hardtop 540 would agree that his machine looked to be was the most 'non-convincing', but he not only went through all but also did not need help anywhere.
at one of the toughest spot, not only he cleared it in one clean sweep but also was more than enthu. to help pull out others. After reaching the top with barely any ground for sufficient ground holding he wanted to strap-pull those who were stuck behind

I keep wondering how Kunal and team were able to find such spots and chalk out this fine route..

majaa aa gaya..!!

Re: The 2011 Alfa Kilo Challenge!

AKC 2011 just concluded with grateful and happy smiles from all participants .
There were 20 obstacles and we all tested our vehicles to their limits.
All the obstacles needed driver technic and the vehicles capacity to cross over.
The terrain was beautiful and could have been a landscape photographer's study ground.

More than that were the wonderful jeeps and vehicles we could get to see from all across the country.
The Hyderabad team was very well prepared and had wonderful vehicles at their disposal. I couldnt stop drooling frankly!

I personally thank, Kunal,Huda and rest of the family who almost single handedly managed this wonderful event.
The food was good, clean and was available on time.

To the organising team I would request to make the AKC 2012 a 2 day event, so that we could get more off-roading with meticulously prepared vehicles and trails.

After all these guys travel hundreds of kilometres to attend an off-roading event,it should be worth all their money, efforts and risk.

Kunal please start a new thread for posting the AKC 2011 videos and pics

You stole words from my mouth Dr Mohan! AKC needs to be a 2 day event!

The hot piping tasty & timely food... surpassed our expectations on an OTR!

All of us have been talking about it in this OTR & I think Kunal can do an amazing with his organizing skills.
Kunal we await the announcement for AKC 2012 as a 2 day event.

Re: The 2011 Alfa kilo Challenge Conquered!

Well, the second edition of AKC is over. Like last year, lots of lessons learnt from the event and lots of individuals to thank for pulling off the event successfully.

Let me start by thanking all of the participants who braved the Maharashtra monsoons and made it to the event and put up with the arrangements made. I understand that it was no luxury being set up as dormitory arrangement, the only justification I offer is that we wanted all participants to be together and form new alliances and friends. Please forgive us if you felt the arrangements too basic.

Marshalls of the AKC:
Prasad, Kishore, Nishant, Soumya, James,Amit, Amey, Monish, Mohan, Ram, all of them wonderful individuals who rallied around me and my family to help make the event a show stopper.
Nishant and Kishore thank you for organising the stickers, caps and the certificates for us and for being there at every recce. Uncle Ajit and Aunty Vaidehi for giving me encouragement every time I spoke to them.
Special mention about the efforts put in by Soumya and Prasad who were also marshalls for another event and pulled off a juggling act! James and Soumya, thank you for always being at every obstacles and being the last to leave and ensuring that all participants have made it across to the next one.

James your spotting skills have become legendary!

Vinod Nookala and his Mahindra support team:
Wow! You guys certainly went the extra mile in helping us out. Vinod, Omkumar, Sudarshan Sawant put in tremendous efforts to recover people tirelessly and only left when everyone was safely off the trail

Mohan Ranawade and his medical support team and backend help:
Thank you Mohan for stationing your people who provided a security blanket for all of us in terms of your state of the art ambulance. Your pick up truck did more than its share and ensured that lunch was delivered on time to the designated spot

Hyderabad Gang:
What a turnout! Thank you all.

Shams and Afsar, I thank you for your offer of your recovery vehicle to be made available to us throughout the event. I regret that we were not able to take advantage of your graciousness. We especially were awed by the colours of your team and the absolute preparedness

Fazal and Abbas, thank you for demonstrating faith in me.

Chethan P, Sugun C, Anand D, Nazeem, Rajashekhar, Ravindra, thanks a ton. I believe one of you had a prior engagement in Mumbai and you still made it to the AKC 2011

Jitendranath and his team comprising of 17 members. It is going to be difficult to name every one of you but know that you are remembered. Thanks a ton for returning to the event. I remembered a lot of you for making it to the event last year, spreading the good word and returning in large numbers this year. What a self sufficient group and the camaraderie are hard to miss. Well, I will miss those lovely treats handed out by your team. Those spicy crunchy treats were welcome in the rains. We look forward to seeing you again in more events; we will try and make it events down south giving the very many new friends we have made

Andy and Malti, Great to see a like minded couple where both enjoy 4X4 driving. Hats off to you for driving down all the way from Bangalore

Pune and Mumbai Gang:
Guys, You Rock for rallying around me and supporting me all the way. I would like to specially thank the graciousness shown by each one of you to ensure that our out of town friends were comfortable.
You have proven you are hardcore offroaders who can sleep anywhere, eat anywhere and offroad everywhere

Neville, Firdosh, Rustom, Burgess and Shahzad, your punctuality is awesome and so are your driving skills. We look forward to having you around at every AKC.

Anupam, Gautam, Arthi & Aditya, I commend you your tirelessness and following every vehicle all the way to the end of the obstacle course

I apologise if I have missed someone out. We lost the bag of stickers and hence were not able to give seconds as requested.

Re: The 2011 Alfa kilo Challenge Conquered!

Wow what an event!!! Thank you Kunal, Huda, Akshi and your families for making this event happen. I think you've outdone yourself with this time's trail which was a great mix of muddy inclines, slippery decents, deep ruts and rock crawling.

I also think you've set a very high benchmark in organizing the entire event right from the selection of the obstacles to the assistance at each point. Restricting the number of vehicles on the trail also allowed every one to not only focus on clearing their own obstacles but also enabled learnings from other participants and their machines.

Made a lot of new friends, caught up with offroading buddies and exchanged a lot of ideas and yarn

As someone mentioned this has to be a 2 day event in 2012. Way to go !!!
