Much better compared to last year but thanks to the rain and cloud cover it was more humid. That took a toll on participants.

Yeah, the weather Gods favored the teams not accustomed to heat!

The skill levels displayed this year by the competitors was superb! It was a beauty to see some (man) handle their machines!

ss5 on day 1:

@arka and bala - just to bring to your notice guys... just a small irregularity which we noticed. just for your info.

some of the teams were allowed to bypass obstacle 1 and directly go to
obstacle 2 without entering specified entry point of the the ss ( the blue flag)

we were not allowed to approach obstacle 2 directly. i.e we had to enter
from the specified point only and thru orange flags of obstacle 1 in order to get thru to obstacle 2.

Hi Siddhu,

All teams were made to enter through the blue flag. I gave an exception only to the LC, because the LC would have made have been stuck there and no other teams could attend the SS. They skipped obstacle 1.

ALl other vehicles had to go through the blue flags.

Now about the Orange flags, no vehicle crossed them. Only two vehicles attempted them. One was Shawnawaz Khan and the other is Vimal from Mahendran's team.

The reason why they were asked to skip is that at the beginnig of the day when team 5-1 started the first obstacle, a decision was made not to include that water body by SS 5 Marshals. Reason - it would make the the whole SS too tough and will not let anyone finish the SS in time.

As far as Khan and Vimal attempting it, owing to so many teams piled up there, it might have been missed in the briefing. That is why I ran over there to tell Khan to skip it. If you recall, I was standing there when you and Prithvi cleared climb 1 and asked you guys to skip it. Atleast I hope you remember this lol.

So Siddhu, you guys only went the through blue flags 1. And all other vehicles other than the LC were made to go thru the first descent.

Good video.

I wonder why the team 2-1 (Viji's team) was taking a line avoiding water and in the process getting stuck by approaching the downward slopes at weird angles.

@Robi/Viji: why were you guys trying to avoid water -- and even then half of your vehicles were in water? Why didn't you guys take a different line??

Arka, thanks for putting this up. Will it be possible to put up the final excel also -- when you upload the final scores.

Also, can you share the scores for the time bonus for day 1?

Khan, most teams tried to avoid/skirt the water. Ali's team was the first to simply drive through but that could be because he has driven through palar water crossings before? Maybe. Anyone who had spotters to walk the water crossings would have made it easily. I think Mansoor's team and Benji's team walked the water crossings and made it through with relative ease.
