Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() baburajs, madred15, ragul, kingvikz, bhaskar, krishna, swami, mohan - Guys, you have to plan within yourselves to reach hosur by 8-815AM (Remember I stay in hosur, not in bangy). Plan to finish breakfast by 845-9am and pack up with some water, snacks and start the 20min drive to starting point, which is 15Kms from hosur. give me a shout/sms @ 801 581 8815 if directions needed, else watch out for others at bomanahalli Shell bunk, leave there by 730am max. (Mods, I am ok with cell# on net) Other than your 8 names above ^, I am expecting 5 more jeeps from other forums, and 1 mine. Definetly More than what I have ever taken on a personal otr!! |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() The event saw 13 vehicles with approx 30 participants... Good response and superb fun. Please wait for pics, i dont have any, will get it from photographers. Few highlights : 1) 3 SWB jeeps, 2 new Thar CRdes, 1 Gypsy, 1 Gurkha, 6 540's 2) 1 540 sidewall burst, both thars took minor hits in cat-conv, 1 thar ran over a rock and bust its clutch oil hose, was towed down the mountain while exiting and got it fixed later in the ground level by MP sir and team. 3) MP Srinivas sir and his comrades boosted the morale and superb spotting was given. 4) Unfortunately we had nearly 150 visitors from nearby quarry workers as rumors of film-shooting spread!! Thankfully, it was all in good spirit, and knowing the owners sure helped maintain good support!! Else... 5) 2nd obstacle ensured gypsy SMOKED like crazy from underneath the chassis (clutch had burnt so bad, driver was experienced) and my cj340 towed the gypsy upto the mountain top. I can now warn that a 'less than 100% fit' gypsy will not make this climb. 6) Numerous tows/pulls of other jeeps was helped by Sunils gurkha. 7) ^ His PTO winch cable cut due to some malfunction. 8) My plan of venturing deeper into the forest was totally dropped by me since the time taken to complete the hill climb took lot of time and also we wanted to get out of the crowds eyes. Hopefully some pics soon... |

| ![]() Thanks SV We had Fun, My side of the story: The previous night removed cage & made full top half, Started by 7:00 Am from R.T Nagar, filled at Shell picked MP sir from home & via toll way at Hotel in hosure for Breakfast at 8:30 as advised by SV, later tool Arul SV's friend & went to the spot, mid way picked a crate of 2L water bottles, the Bike folks didnt want to wait & were pushing to move on!! thus we lost convoy & were advised by MP sir. laer regrouped at entrance of parandapalli & moved on, stopped in a village to sync with SV, but too many people started gathering & we moved on to the spot. Very nice location, right at the entrance I had Issues with my 4wd box so had to go down & tap it to 4wdL, generally i use 2H then 4H as needed very rarely 4L if that dosednt work diffs if not winch, but this time full trail in 4WL, 2 major obstrucles, lots of rocks!! what do you epect in a query!! Had fun. My PTO on off swithc / liver malfunctioned, it turned on but not off when I put it down so the hook stuck in fair lead, winch kept rolling & cable snapped 12mm steel, wound in all kinds of places !! Had good time recovering some jeeps. Not many video's pf mine. that happens only when my wife accompanies me. Kamal, Srinath & MP sir did great spotting, a Blue shirt person with beard was very helpful. let the videos speak. Cheers Sunil Last edited by hisunil : 26th September 2011 at 09:35. |

MP Sir, your constant encouragement gave us newbies a lot of courage and I learnt a lot. Thanks all for pitching in and helping out when my clutch hose got cut when it hit a rock. HiSunil, your gurkha is awesome machine man. It was one wild workhorse yesterday. Overall barring the heat (which is expected in this rocky region), it was a day very well spent. My biggest gripe was when I had was numerous people spotting and giving out totally different instructions, as a newbie, it just confused the hell out of me from the driver's seat. | |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Phew those jeeps with their front wheels launched in the air is a sight to behold. Thanks for posting the pics guys. ![]() The above picture, isnt that something dangerous to be done ? What if the jeep rolled back, coz if you look clearly the guys right leg is right in the path of the front right wheel (the gentleman in the blue tee). |

Sorry friends, I had to pull out due to family issues and from Saturday morning till Sunday Afternoon, I did not not have access to the internet, so could not tell anyone of my absence. ps: Sunil, its great you went, someone had to represent R.T.Nagar jeepers. ![]() Last OTR (Biddagupe Lake) it was me, this time you. Hopefully the next OTR, the two of us can make it. Last edited by Samurai : 26th September 2011 at 17:38. Reason: avoid quoting the entire post |
