These are Shamiyana tents, not mosquito proof. You can get your sleeping bag if that solves your problem.

Re: Bangalore Annual Offroading Event January 2012

Just reached Bangalore with my 540, after a cool non-stop 482 kms from my farm at Thekkady in less than 10 hrs, averaging 50kms/hr.Me and Danny(my great dane) were on a tender coconut water diet for the whole stretch. All excited and waiting for the 26th to be part of the mega event for the first time. Thanks M.P. sir for your timely help/support. Need to get some last minute trips to the inner core of the city to be in line with the off-roading requirements.
Items pending on the list to be bought
Tow Rope,D-Shackle, tow hook on the vehicle.
High lift jack and Diesel cans.
Hope I am lucky enough to find this in stock with some shops in JC road.

Re: Bangalore Annual Offroading Event January 2012

Folks,

With the work at office, I am unable to make it to this exciting event (also the unfortunately long body 4x4s are not allowed so cannot make it on the second day as well).

However I want to witness the OTR with my wife & kid on the second day.

It would be a first & great opportunity for me to meet the fellow TBHPs in person.

Are visitors allowed?
Can you point me to the route map/GPS coordinates of the OTR location?
Any other advice?

Drive to base camp is accessible with the car. Its a normal mud road with few high points were you may touch the lower arm or skid plate.
its possible.

You cannot join on the second day as the assembly point is on the Highway on the 26th evening, all participants will be escorted to camp site in a convoy. It will not be possible for a Marshall to come to main roads and pick you on the 27th.

Can the gps coordinates of the meeting point and the camp site be posted here if available? Thanks.
Camp site coordinates are not shared, you will be taken to camp site from assembly point by Marshalls, However here is the Google Maps link showing the route from NICE Road Junction to the assembly point.

NH 209 to NH 209 - Google Maps

There is a Tube well in the camp site, Samu sir you can have a bath if you don't mind doing it under the tap, in the open.

Sufficient chemical toilets will installed in the camp.

For Ladies there is a bathroom belonging to the camp site owners, which can be used incase any of them want to freshen'up.
-----------------------

Here is the Google Map Link to get to Starting Point, from where the
Marshall will take you to the camp site.

Please carry all you requirements before reaching this point. As there
will be not further stops or breaks in the Convoy and reaching no
mobile may not be possible in certain areas.

Total drive will be about 80 km from point B to camp site not shown in
the map. So ensure you are carrying enough Fuel.

Closest Fuel Station is Indian Oil just before the NICE Road
(Bangalore Bypass) Junction.
Please carry supplies of Cigarettes, Chewing Gum etc. what ever
you needs are before reaching the assembly point.

Change of vehicle

We had originally planned to use a 'Rubicon' wannabe but a change of plans means that Prabhu & I will be in a Thar with a prototype FRP hard-top. We thought this was the ideal opportunity to test the hard top.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Ravveendrra,

The Thar is coming to Bangalore fitted with the 90% final HT prototype for testing it on 120-140 kmph highway driving and flexural stress during the OTR. Yes, it is definitely most ideal to test it in both real time conditions.

Prabhu is taking no chances, if the test presents any deficiencies they can be taken care of before the final production level.

Re: Bangalore Annual Offroading Event January 2012

Dear Dwarak and the O team,

Regret to inform you that I will not be able to participate in this OTR, one which I had been looking forward to since its announcement.

My five year old son is down with severe temperature and gastroenteritis since last night. Until today evening I was keeping my chances 50:50 but his condition needs attention and my wife definitely will need my help in taking care of him, thus I have decided to stay back.

Brothers from Bangalore, Chennai, Kerala, Bombay and elsewhere, I wanted to meet you all since long, now my family needs me now and we shall meet another day, Inshallah.

Wish you all the best and this event a grand success.
Regards,
