Hi All,
We did your first Recce yesterday at another location yesterday and the Oteam wanting to deliver a challenging trail was successful in find one.

We started a bit late and reached the trail starting point by 10 am, we had suresh, MpS leading in SWB jeeps and my gypsy and a thar and a MM550. The area was filled with thorns and bushes. with us trying to make way through by foot first and then the Jeeps with plenty of stops etc....... it was already 4 30 and we soon had to find a way out of the place before it would become dark. Thanks to Suresh and MpS's skill in making a Jeep Trial in near impossible spots, by 6pm or so we managed to get a tractor trail, to which we had a huge sigh of relief. If not we would be lost in the area with out water and food from noon, @ 630 hit the closest village where we eat some bananas and pakodas and headed towards Bangalore.

My personal take on yesterdays the Recce:
A very challenging tails with lots of technical driving to do.
Some boulder / rocks and some step inclines and declines coupled with sharp turns.
Some very narrow points.
Driver skill is more important than the vehicle.
If Avalokonda 2011 has a rating to 7/10, I would rate this 9/10.

Oteams Takes:
Yesterdays Recce may be a part or first leg, if we go with this location.

After yesterdays meet the Oteam decided not to go public with all details of the event on any Forum to avoid unnecessary issues.

The Oteam will invite participants and mails will be sent to all confirmed participants on dates, time and meeting location. In our next meet we will finalize on a co-ordinator who will be managing on participation etc.

We have no special criteria as such, A fuctional 4X4 and some basic offroad driving should do the trick.

But a good Jeepers spirit is compulsory to enjoy the event.

There will be some minimum things to carry with your 4X4's (some recovery equipment) which will be post in due course.

Hey Prithvi,

Guess Avalakonda needs more than basic 4x4 skillsets - The trail is tactical and the fun factor is because of you guys

Oh yes absolutely right, Jeeping spirit is a must, and i am loaded with that, why i asked about the criteria is because i read in one of the replies that an email will be sent to the selected participants, so appeared to be a tough selection process. As far as experience is concerned i have done nearly 4 big offroading events including the one at Lonavala by Extreme offroaders, and keep doing small OTRs so i think i might be able to handle tough tracks. anyways thanks and looking forward to a confirmation email.

You can expect a lot of participants and vehicles from our club as usual.

We need Confirmations for the main purpose of making logistic arrangements for people and a good trail for the Jeeps. Which is why we are closing entries by 15th Dec. Don't waste 4X4 Slots if your Jeep is not going to be ready let some other vehicle come in its place. As for additional people we will make ample arrangements.

1. There is no selection process as such, we looking for true and genuine Jeepers and not time wasters.

2. Trail is usually tough on your 4X4's and body damage like scratches will be plenty. Most stock vehicles can finish the trail, but believe me its not going to be easy driving. This event is know for its tough & unforgiving trial and skilled driving. And it will keep up to its promise this year as well.

3. We want to avoid posting event details in public forums to avoid unnecessary publicity.

4. We plan to restrict entries to 60 Jeeps, which is why i mentioned on the email confirmations.

Dwarak has posted the details required by us in post # 39. You can send a email to cooldrive_blr@yahoo.com with all the details. After which you will receive all details on email or phone as and when required.
