Re: Rajmachi Softroading Trip March 11th

A few excerpts from the trip; videos and rest of the pics shall be put up later (yes, we have quite a few video of off-roading exercises that we successfully pulled off!)

The day started off with a short but yummy breakfast at RK, Lonavala

Some of the junta had joined the trip right after finishing another cross country trip (hopefully we shall see a travelogue on the same soon! )

A lot had initially shown interest, others chose to simply voice their opinions, but finally the few that landed up, were geared up well. The rocks of Rajmachi simply did not stand a chance against these fellas!

The team was ready, we even had a befitting leader, one that was the perfect vehicle to lead these monster trucks.

The weather was perfect. Even though we were late as per our initial plans and in-spite of all the misgivings, it was a beautiful day.

The flowers were out in full bloom.

Our target was well in sight.

However that wasn't what we had intended to do. This wasn't a trekking trip, was it? Once we got ourselves refreshed and our thirst quenched

we got down to what we came here to do. And boy did we have a blast!

Finally it was time to call it a day, and the baddies decided to assemble themselves for a last photoshoot.

A morning well spent!

Doc, its was lot of fun to have you around. I am seriously looking forward to more such excursions

Heck, it was not enough, I am not going to wash my Buffalo for next few days. Simply loving that dust all over.

Finally, it was Siddhesh with Nandu Chitnis and Better Half in Samara (Endy), OffRoddie (Rohan) with his Mom and Dad (in Scorpio), sierrakamat (Doc) with his nasty :-D friends (in Grande), vtec_guy(Vikram) on tbird, and Me with Monaro, Ninjatalli, RacerX and ajnagpur in my Buffalo(Safari).

We started at 7.20am from the meeting point and were back home by 2.30pm. Of course we did not come across anything that has been talked about in some previous post, not even a hot weather.

Picture speaks thousand words, and we already got some few hundreds of them. Let them do the talking about the even....

shutterbugs....this is your place now lol :-D

those who could not make it...keeping watching this thread

Hahahaha

I saw you taking that picture of ours - knew it was going to come up

By the way, uploading the first lot of videos of off-tracking from my side. These are just short video bursts - I saw a lot of others taking longer videos - we should be seeing more of them very soon!

Edit: I don't seem to be displaying the youtube videos out here, instead I am getting just links. I wonder why!
Edit (again): Resolved!

Re: Rajmachi Softroading Trip March 11th

What a day!

After weeks of drooling over the possibility, and the ever-growing list, the last couple of days had been pretty disappointing with dire predictions coming in from all quarters, and a lot of last minute cancellations and drop outs. Thanks to some pretty persuasive coaxing by Monaro and Throttleking, and the amazing spirit shown by Offroadie and his parents, who had landed in Pune all excited for the Rajmachi trip after a long trip to Lonar, and the enthusiasm of nanduchitnis and his wifey, we all decided to go ahead, no matter what.

The weather was beautiful, and even in the noon summer sun, the baby beasts and their baby drivers kept at it. Any remaining traces of exhaustion and tiredness were blown away by TK's thoughtfully frozen Thums Up with the added dash of Pepsi and neembupaani. While the photographers clicked away, the encouragement from the ladies added the extra zing. While traffic on the trail was almost nil (except for a couple of really brave hatchbacks), we met 6-7 groups of happy, enthusiastic trekkers who waved at us in spite of the billowing dust clouds thrown up by the wild beasts. The locals were super helpful, one of them even hopping on our pilot bike to show us the way!

The beasts enjoyed to the fullest, kicking up dust, roaring up the hill sides, crunching up the gravel, without leaving any paint or metal behind All we carried back from the trip were beautiful memories, amazing photos, and a LOT of dust!

Guys, thank you for an amazing day... ! I echo SierraKamat's thoughts when he says that it felt like we've known each other forever! Samara and I look forward to many, many more such exciting adventures.. and yes, as we all agreed, come rains, these beasts will be there again And don't forget the Goa trip.. that should be coming up soon!

Pics getting processed, should be uploading them soon!

Oh, and I need to say, in the battle of the SUVs, the undisputed winner today was the Sumo Grande and her expert handling by SierraKamat! Got to see some awesome stuff today...

A punch line from a famous advert: There are Thinkers..& there are Doers..

Today, we were the Doers!

A bunch of fellow Amateur SUV guys wanted to have some fun, and, in what a way did they do it..!

4 cars & 1 Bullet..

Been so overwhelmed with today's meet, thought I would let it rest with sharing a few pics while the party was in action. But sharing a piece of my mind into the build-up, and the execution.

Flashback:
The idea of this fun trip was initiated by Siddeshb & he immediately wrote to us fellow enthusiastic TBHPians - Throttleking, Guderian & Myself; whether we were interested ?
It was a GO from the very first day!
Apart from Guderian (who had an emergency), everyone from the above made sure the event went as planned.
With my luck running out on me regarding the availability of my truck, I was seriously thinking of brining the SX4 Diesel. I called TK on Saturday morning and discussed how this would be do-able.
But TK talked me out of this and offered me a co-driver's seat in his Safari. I think it was a wise choice, as all the cars could keep a good pace considering the trail conditions.

Today:
And after the day spent in TK's Truck, my respect has grown immensely for the Safari!
The trails were dry and dusty, but nothing that the SUVs couldn't handle. The attraction of the day being the off-track, steep gradient (30-35 degrees incline) which needed some driving expertise.
Damn, I missed my ride today..!

Good to see all enthusiastically participating and special thanks to:
1. Siddeshb for conceiving this idea and sticking to the plan, despite of speculations
2. Throttleking for a well organising meet & the chilled Thumbs up too !
3. Chitnis couple for the lovely Kayani Cake
4. Offroadie Family for the Fresh Guava Fruits. You have a rocking family Rohan! And like I told you, you absolutely did do justice to your signature today!

A few pics taken while negotiating the trail..and Doctor Kamat's Stunner - The Grande
