Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Best of luck trying to garner participation from Kolkata tbhpians. I had organized such an OTR in the past, here's the link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/4x4-ex...tr-report.html Was seriously underwhelmed at the lack of enthusiasm shown by Kolkata tbhpians. Just 4 tbhpians attended, 3 of whom are out of Kolkata now. The 4th, I'm quite sure, won't turn up. ![]() |

| ![]() The D Day is tomorrow. Slight change in venue. Pandua is 60kms from Liluah. We leave from UBS sir's house at 7.30am via NH2. The Damodar river bed: Terrain is replete with lots of mud, slush, sand, water crossings and inclines. There are plenty of chances to attain jeep nirvana tomorrow. All participants are instructed to carry adequate water to last the entire day till sundown and carry packed breakfast and lunch with them. Also ensure that your fuel tanks are full when you start. All the best to everybody. regards, Dr. A Ghosh Last edited by abheekg : 23rd June 2012 at 19:05. Reason: to add detail |

| ![]() Had a very nice OTR , many thanks to UBS Sir and Abheek. This was my first OTR, and to be frank I was very scared so did not try anything. But the skill displayed by the other members of the group leaves me speechless. Also made some very good friends. Some pictures. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Having missed out the earlier one. I made it a point, despite odds, at some fronts, to be at this one. By toutatis wasn't this an event!! Generally after a couple of days of back to back slogging from early in the morning till late at night, one really looks forward to be on the bed flat till late in the morning on Sunday. Moreso if the preceding day went physically hectic. But then somehow the body clock too woke up at 6 am in the morning without needing an alarm clock reminder. At 7:10am sharp was at the Jeep Mecca of our part of the world. Some little details have changed since the last time I visited the compound. But what hasn't, is the enthusiasm. At 9:30am ish, was on our way with the Jeeps and my Marengo (a 4wd Scorpio, not too well known for its OTR prowess). The convoy consisted of 5 low bonnet jeeps (3 Fords and 2 Willys - the Bawan), one mm550, two Scorpio's (1 2wd and1 4wd - Marengo) and hold your breath a BMW 7 series (735i) This time the transport stage to Pandua was done with the lone Petrol Jeep (Bawan) being towed by its white brother (WME 2382) We reached Pandua at around 11:30ish, the going was a bit slow. But soon we were at the OTR site for a gathering. The locals had gathered around, and having seen a premium "car" in the convoy, suspected some shooting activity. Here are some pics from the session ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I liked the way this scorp looked ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ready for Take off ![]() BA-One ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Towards the end of the pre-lunch session, there was a small mishap, the leaf spring on this 550 gave way on a hard landing. ![]() The leaf was replaced from a spare leaf present on the chassis of one of the Fords. UBS sir asked us to have lunch at this site itself and get all the jeeps here. Lunch consisted of tasty sandwiches. Marengo serving the role of an AC room with 4WD! ![]() ![]() I liked the way this scorp looked ![]() Post lunch there were a few obstacle tackling ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I left the venue for other commitments at around 5, with Abheek. However that was another story, not a long one. However, my pic of the day was - ![]() |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() I'm missing this badly. The first OTR with UBS Sir was enough to generate the interest in me for such activity, though due to my fault couldn't keep up the interest for a long time. Need to get back behind the wheel of one of those. Abheekg, I'm in for the next one that you guys are planning on the 29th of this month. Spoke to 1100D yesterday about it too. Though I don't have a 4x4. |
