Re: MCube 2012, pics and report

Excellent pics guys. Wish i had a camera but most of my time was spent on retrieving stuck participants from obstacle one. That particular obstacle looked very meek and tame but turned out to be the nemesis of many a vehicle.

New respect for many vehicles and their drivers. I always though lowly of the Thar but seeing the same vehicle being handled by some of the ace drivers it was proven, yet again that its the driver and the vehicle together and not just the vehicle that could perform wonders. Still i wish the Thar had the crawling capability of the MM550 or the plain jane CJ.

The Lynx...what a machine. The Orange Thar from Hyderabad...amazing. The Xenon looked great and very well driven my Sunil Pawar, performed superbly. With a 4" shackle lift and long travel shocks, this could be a potential go anywhere vehicle...but for the rear overhang. Adnan's and Ayub Bhai's Willy's were a crowd puller. Particularly loved the Land Master meters in Ayub Bhai's Willy's. Could someone please post some pics of that lovely period looking dash? Great prepared vehicles from the South. These guys really know their stuff. The Hyderabad Scorpio was another crowd puller. By standers could not believe that a Scorpio could do what it did. Of course the Black Thar with a tiger on it looked every bit menacing as it performed. Great father son team Shams and Afsar Saab. Lots of Thars, particularly the Red one from Bangalore with a tweaked exhaust and a tuned piggy back aftermarket ECU. That thing sounded like a petrol vehicle and i could see it rearing to go. A good drag machine i think. There were so many well modified vehicles that i cant even begin to mention them. The well preparedness of the BODA boys was a sight to see. Viji Sir's MM550 was amazing on all obstacles. It cleared all the obstacles like a whistle. I can go on and on about the vehicles there but what good would it do without pictures? Almost every vehicle there was special, even if it was stock. The full blown Gypsys also sailed through the obstacles making them look smooth. A special mention to the tractor tyred Gulbarga Bolero. Went anywhere and everywhere. The Gujarat and Rajasthan vehicles were in a league of their own. I loved the look and sound of Aditya's hybrid MM. fantastic job. So many vehicles and so less time to describe them. Ill leave it here or will go on and on forever.

There were a few casualties, in the form of some breakdowns, temporary. One Thar that busted its A/Ts on the rock, unfortunately landing hard on an edge and one was your's truly's Tow/Rescue mobile, a puncture in the tyre which was immediately attended to my the Maxxis team present there. Just a small puncture.

Kudos to everyone, i have yet to see such an orderly line up and discipline amongst participants when waiting for their turn at the obstacles.

As the time sailed along, obstacle 1 which was pretty challenging for the first few 15 or so vehicles, became easier but the slush pit got worse. So everyone got their part of a fairly doable and a fairly challenging obstacle.

All in all a great day. Thanks Ravvenndrra and Sanjay Kale for the lovely pics. More pictures please, i cant seem to get enough.....Keep then coming.

PS that cute kid is Ravi Nayar's son, already a budding Jeeper. he carried with him a small case with a few of his dinky Jeeps and made sure they had their own scaled obstacles to clear.

Hey Ravi, I always knew he was some Jeeper's son. I wanted to know who that kid is (his name, age etc). He sure is a future off roader with all his might, there is no question about that.

Re: MCube 2012, pics and report

Hi,

I have not had time to compose the pictures or text of my next post and I also know I have been neglecting queries and messages to me so let me deal with the latter first:

MCUBE team is rocking. Next OTR please choose a place near to Pune or may be in Pune. its really back breaking journey on a three speed tranny.

There are lot of photos to be posted, will do it soon.
1. Let the photos flow Adnan

2. It was a great event.

3. I think the lot I was with was the last to check in and the accommodation at both locations was just fabulous.

The Xenon did pretty well as V-16 elaborated. The Xenon is a vehicle I have been looking at for quite a while now and its performance at this event is tempting me.

Hear! Hear! More pictures and videos please. Not everyone was lucky enough to be there, even the ones who were there could not be present at all the points at the same time.

I agree, that 1/2 point deduction is due to the fracas with the MFD at the fag end of the event. But for that, everything else was just brilliant - the programme, the track, the timing and point system, the marshalling. The accommodation and food were truly outstanding.

BTW - of all the pictures posted so far, your pic of the little champ doing an OTR with his car is the bestest!

Mashmash - when do we see you in a jeep? Build one while you are in Hyderabad (and I will probably borrow it!). Just kidding. Thanks for the appreciation and rating.

Yes, that series of pictures did make for an interesting story. I saw the Xenon do this track 2 and it handled itself beautifully.

That cute kid was the star of the event! He thoroughly enjoyed himself walking all over for two days without any signs of fatigue. You got yourself a champ there Ravi.

Interesting proposition for the Xenon, I am sure the Xenon's tail can be docked.

Exactly. There are always so many awesome vehicles on these OTR's but we cannot get to see much of them. I really wish somebody could take proper pix of every vehicle on the OTR. maybe 2-3 pix while registration is going on maybe.

Viji,

Nice pics and team from Banguluru.

Ravveendrra,

Thanks for the pics., that is a good representation of track A.

Love the Bobtail....actually Allan should name it MANX, its a cat with a short tail.

Re: MCube 2012, pics and report

Great pics Ravvenndrra, Viji Saar and Fazalbhai. As they say pictures speak a 1000 words.

The bobtail (Manx??!!) is a vehicle in a class on its own. I dont think anyone present did not look at it in awe..... and after it performed, that awestruck expression remained it just glided through the obstacles as if they were not there. Makes the tough challenges look so easy.

Great job Allan, you're truly an artist when it comes to Jeeps.

Re: MCube 2012, pics and report

The BOB Tail has coil over suspension. Now that looks very interesting. Anybody know more about it?

These days I see the reg number and if it is UK( Uttara khand) registered, then by and large it is assumed to be Allans creation.

Re: MCube 2012, pics and report

I am not sure that Bobtail is a roadworthy Jeep, especially with it's exhaust that could kill a biker. And it is totally unbalanced with all the weight in the first 70% of the vehicle. Hope it was trucked to the OTR site.

P.S. I am not an experienced off roader.
