Offroad Junkie in association with DOT, Goa, presents The Winch Challenge 2014
Dates: 20-22 June 2014.
Venue: Goa
We're not going to make any claims about it being a stupendo-fantabulous, killer, tough, toughest, tougherestest, epic, mindboggling, rib-shaking, nut-cracking, liver squeezing challenge!
We're just going to do the following:
- Mix 3 parts of a crazy team of dedicated Offroad Junkies with a
- two parts of a professional team from DOT offroad track in Goa,
- add a generous helping of the full onslaught of the western monsoons in full fury in a
- treacherous and mountainous private property with
- the worst mud and laterite soil you've ever seen and with only
- one aim: to make your life difficult.

We're positively thrilled by the number of queries that we've got on our Facebook page.
We are limiting entries to 20 vehicles at the moment.
With the response that we've got, we will be allocating entries region-wise so as to get a pan India participation.
Kindly visit the winch challenge website and fill in the form giving us vehicle details and where you are based. Be sure to mention if your vehicle has roll-over protection, seat belts, type of tyres, etc. Ofcourse a working winch in a must!
NOTE: Pre-registration doesn't guarantee participation.

We're open to additions/subtractions in the Handbook and would love positive criticism of the same.
We’re looking for Marshals for The Winch Challenge 2014 (20-22June). If you having been offroading for a while, and are also ready to be trained in the basics, you can apply to become a Marshal with us.
Please fill out the form on the website (
www.thewinchchallenge.com) and tell us a bit about your experience in offroading.
Applications will be scrutinized and short listed participants will be individually contacted for further details.
Marshals will have to take care of their own accommodation. All meals on field will be provided as well as transportation arrangements to the venue. Basic marshal training will be free.
Marshals will need to report in on 19th June 2014 for training and briefing plus will have to do mock trials on 20th morning and understand their stages.

Costing for The Winch Challenge Event:
Category I:
Participation Fee: Rs. 15,000 (includes taxes)
Inclusions: This is the cost for one vehicle with two people (driver and navigator/co-driver). Includes accommodation for 20th, 21st, 22nd night (June) and all meals from 20th night to 23rd morning. Accommodation is in a proper 4 Star resort on a twin sharing (quad sharing in case of two room suites) basis. Packed meals will be given during the event timings.
Category II:
Spectator Fee (with accommodation and meals): Rs. 5000 (includes taxes)
Inclusions: This is the cost for one person. Includes accommodation for 20th, 21st, 22nd night (June) and all meals from 20th night to 23rd morning. Accommodation is in a proper 4 Star resort on a twin sharing (quad sharing in case of two room suites) basis. Packed meals will be given during the event timings. Transport to and fro to the offroad venue will have to be arranged by the guest.
Category III:
Spectator Fee: Rs. 500 per person per day.
This is for people wishing to just come and have a look at The Winch Challenge 2014. They will have to make all arrangements of travel / food / accommodation on their own. Packed meals will be provided at the venue (subject to availability).
No pre-registration for Category III spectators. They can buy their passes at the venue.
Note for spectators: Since this is a winching event, spectators will have to stay in demarcated areas only for their safety. Kindly co-operate.

Imagine this: See the below photo, factor in more greenery in the monsoons, add around 2+ feet of flowing water. Now picture yourself driving a kilometer through this upstream avoiding obstacles and at the end take a 90° left turn to winch yourself up an embankment and enter a dense forested trail.

The registration from is up on our website. Fill in the form completely and hit the submit button. Once we receive the filled form, we will email you the bank details. After making the payment, please reply back with the details.
Entries are on a first come, first served basis once the payment is received.
Entries limited to 20 participants and the entries are non transferable and the fees are non refundable.
Make sure you have passport sized photographs ready to upload (driver and navigator) whilst filling the form.
Make sure your vehicle is compliant with the rules as laid down in the handbook to prevent disqualification.

20th June 2014 (Friday)
Reporting & Registration: 4pm to 6:30pm
Scrutiny will be done at the time of registration. After scrutiny, the vehicles will not be allowed to leave the secure parking site and changes will be allowed to be made with permission from the Event Director.
For participants/spectators/marshals staying at venue, you will be appointed the rooms in the resort as well.
7:00pm onwards: Briefing, q&a followed by dinner.
21st June 2014 (Saturday)
7:00am to 8:00am: Breakfast at resort
8:00am: Flag off
Drive to DOT offroad track is approximately 35kms.
9:30am: Second briefing at the track
10:00am: Event commences.
Lunch break will be a rolling break. As participants get free from a pre-decided number of stages, they will go for lunch. This will be announced int he briefing.
6:00pm End of day stages
6:00pm to 7:00pm Rest and repairs
7:00pm to 11:00pm : Night stage
Vehicles to be parked at venue. Security will be provided. Chartered bus will transfer participants back to the resort.
22nd June 2014 (Sunday)
7:00am to 8:00am: Breakfast at resort
8:00am: Leave for DOT offroad track
9:30am: Event commences.
Lunch break will be a rolling break. As participants get free from a pre-decided number of stages, they will go for lunch. This will be announced int he briefing.
6:00pm End of day and head back to the resort.
7:30pm Prize announcements and dinner.
Participants will have accommodation for Sunday night and have to check out on Monday morning after breakfast.
The trophy figurines have just arrived from the US for The Winch Challenge 2014 winners' trophies.

The event trail was set challenging and daring, totally the terrain is wonderful for off-roading and scope for unlimited new obstacles. it was a great pleasure watching recce team setting up the trail, especially Fasal and Tejas leading the show. Hats off to Manjunath and Gaurav for having able to search and get such a great place and also for their patience and effort in organising a challenging event. lastly I thank tejas for inviting and accommodating me in the event.

Thank you for the nice words sir. Sorry couldn't catch up with you more during the event days. Missed you on the sunday night dinner and ceremony. Have your Marshal's medal and certificate. Will have to send it across to you somehow.
