Thanks guys. We enjoyed hosting the event as much as the participants. Look forward to next year at a BRAND NEW trail/camping spot for 2 days of even more fun

The camp site is on a hill and there is a muddy track that leads up there and all amenities had to be carried up there. Convincing suppliers/contractors to provide amenities -- even at a premium -- at this remote place is a task in itself. If you forget anything, it's a 20KM run at a minimum to arrange stuff

This track to the camp looks simple, but can be treacherous for trucks as seen below where the truck overturned and led to delay of 1 day in our execution and we had to deploy more resources to bring thinks back on track. (This also shows why contractors don't want to bring supplies here and it's the goodwill of BODA that works)

Enough, clean chemical toilets in both indian/western configurations & bathing cabins with separate enclosed area for women folks

Provision for hot water in the morning. The fun & charm of collecting hot water in a bucket and then carrying it to a cabin for bath is something else in today's world of hot water on tap

Each tent had provision for electrical sockets that guests could use to charge phones.

Simple, neat/clean beds for the night

All this effort bore fruit when you see the mini-city full of offroaders having fun.

So, what was the effect of RFC on BODA event? I know terrain was same as last year, but the obstacles must have been tougher to satisfy better equipped vehicles.
Yes, some of the obstacles were tricky and tougher. However, I'm seeing a very steep rise in the number of heavily modified vehicles. In the first Wayanad event where we met, lockers were so rare like one in 50 vehicles or so. Now, 4 out of 5 Jeeps from Wayanad had lockers. Similarly bigger tyres or even terrain specific tyres.

The rut obstacle must be thrilling.
Yes, the organizational part was just perfect.

The rut obstacle needed the full effort of the spotter. The driver just needed to follow the spotter.

Thanks for the behind the scene information Khan sir!. Very insightful!

I would also like to thank Mr MP Sreenivas Sir, for all the help he's given us. You could see how knowledgeable he was about the whole terrain. Visiting each and every obstacle, sorting out the issues, creating bypasses.

This man really has unmatched passion & spirit!

Re: Report & Pics: Bangalore Annual OTR, 2015

Dear Team BODA,

Excellent track and location, of what I can see in the pics and am sure that it was much much more than what the report and pics represent.
Been there once and admired the perfect arrangement and efficient management skills that the O team had done for a huge number of participants.
You are getting better year after year, wish you the very best and hope to be there next year.

Nice report.
Regards,

Re: Report & Pics: Bangalore Annual OTR, 2015

Hi Guys,

Cross posting a relevant update here:

Quote:
Cougar Motorsport to conduct Regional Chapters as part of Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh’s Offroading Mania on 16th and 17th January and the BODA Annual OTR on 23rd and 24th January
Winners of the Regional Chapters to get free automatic entry in the Force Gurkha RFC India Mother Event to be held in Goa from 22nd to 29th July
Quote:
While Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh’s Offroading Mania will take place at the Forest Hill Resort on the outskirts of Chandigarh on 16th and 17th January, BODA’s Annual OTR will be held on 23rd and 24th January at a camping site about 60kms outside Bangalore. The annual events of both the clubs will be non-competitive adventure activities meant to give a boost to the growing offroading culture in the country. However, the Force Gurkha RFC India Regional Chapters will be competitive events with the winners of both the chapters getting an automatic free entry in the Force Gurkha RFC India Mother Event to be held at Goa from 22nd to 29th July 2016.
