Mahindra's Adventure calendar for 2015 is out and registrations have begun.



For those less familiar with this concept, it includes a series of expeditions or off-road events + challenges, scheduled throughout the year.

The Great Escape: Participants have the option to enroll for single day events to go off-roading in their existing vehicles. The entry fee for the same is Rs. 5,000 for a team of 2 and Rs. 1,000 for every additional person. There exists an Off-Road Trophy class too, entry for which is Rs. 11,500 and the winner drives home a brand new Thar! Locations and dates are as follows:

•Shillong: May 23, 2015
•Lonavala: July 11, 2015
•Goa: July 18, 2015 & July 25, 2015
•Nagpur: August 8, 2015
•Sakhleshpur: August 29 - 30, 2015
•Kottayam: September 26 - 27, 2015
•Chennai: October 10, 2015
•Hyderabad: October 25, 2015
•Chandigarh: November 7, 2015
•Gurgaon: December 12, 2015

Special Escapes: These are multi-day drives in which non-Mahindra owners can also participate in the Special Escapes. The entry fee for these ranges between Rs. 50,000 - 1,50,000 per couple depending on the location.

•Monastry Escape Leg 2: July 11 - 20, 2015
•Authentic Goa: July 21 - 25, 2015
•Himalayan Spiti: August 31, 2015
•Tri-Nation: October 10 - 22, 2015
•Authentic North East: November 21 - December 1, 2015
•Royal Escape: December 26 - January 1, 2016
•Wild Escape: February 8 - 15, 2016

TSD Challenges: The Monsoon Challenge and Spice Challenge are 3-day TSD challenges only for Mahindra vehicle owners.

Is this Open for Non Mahindra Vehicle Owners as well with Non Mahindra Vehicle ?

I'm quoting text directly from their FAQ section:

2. Can we hire vehicles from M&M for participating in Adventure Events?

For Great Escape, Monsoon Challenge and Spice Challenge events, participants are required to bring their own Mahindra vehicle. The Verito and Xylo are not allowed in great escape events.

For Special Escapes and Expeditions, the vehicle will be provided by Mahindra and the cost of hiring the vehicle is included in the registration fee.

3. If I am not a Mahindra customer, can I participate in Adventure events?

Yes, but only in Special Escapes and not in Great Escapes or Challenges for which a Mahindra vehicle is required to participate.

Haha. Good catch! Possibly someone from Mahindra team made a typo? Though usually such things happen in January and after that we get used to typing the right year.

EDIT: Just checked the site. You are right, these are last years' dates.

Not sure why this step-motherly treatment to Xylo, when Quanto is being allowed to particiapte. . Xylo being more powerful that Quanto can perform as good as Quanto

I think they are worried that some taxi guy is gonna come, whip the Thar, and then everybody will go home embarrassed

On a more serious note, I suspect that they want to keep these events mostly to private ownership type of vehicles. Quanto being left out may have been an oversight. They may have wanted just bolero,Scorpio, getaway, XUV etc., and not the Quanto,Xylo, Verito, magneto, and Dio

Ah!! I get it now - So this event is basically for models (SUVs / Crossovers) where 4X4 / AWD is avaiable at least as an option. They do not want the so called MUVs in it then. But have there been any "drive" events for Xylo owners? I do not remember seeing any of them. They could at least do a Mumbai-Pune / Bangalore-Mysore run.

OT: In our Ladakh drive last year, we had three 4x4 Scorpios and one Quanto. Surprisingly the Quanto did very well on the ghats where at times the scorpios needed a clutch slip / clutch dump. I found it quite nimble to manoeuvre as well.

Thanks Shubhendra. Its not mentioned in their site yet. I read somewhere that Monastery escape gets booked even before they open the registrations in the site. Just wanted to know if someone has any inside info.
