Re: Kolkata Offroaders (KO) : Valentine Day OTR

Thanks for sharing this Arav. The Willys jeeps look timeless as always. All the other 4x4s look to be so happy to play in their natural habitat. But the highlight of this OTR is definitely the Etios twins playing in the field of the big bad boys. The photographs are wonderful. Hoping to see some more pictures coming in from Samba as well. Rated 5*!

Nice Pictures Arav. It's indeed a pleasure to see the master ( read UBS) in action. Pleasantly surprised to see the inductive effect, the event had on you & Samba. And Now Samba please share your part of the pics. Oh yes, rating Five Star as well.

I think its the duster twins, that steals the show, was the terrain all too tame for an Etios? Looks to me an all fun day with friends.

Yes, they did play in the field, but were not subjected to the obstacles. Infact some very good photography makes it look a little more challenging than they were.

The terrain had different obstacles, some sand pits, some hard ground, some slopes, some longer and steeper than others.

The idea was to subject different categories of machines on different types of challenges.

For example, the different types of vehicles that took the slopes, differred in the length, the steepness and the available grip they were subjected to. Folks can progressively try pushing those limits once they get more comfortable.

You can check a few more pictures on this one to get a fair idea

Its becoming rarer to see 4x4 Excursion threads here. Its also becoming rarer, to see a bunch of friends hang out with their 4x4's and do some crazy stuff!.. Neverthless, its so fulfilling Thank you for sharing!!..

Great pics Aj-Got-Bhp. With your spirit of driving i have a doubt! Is the full form of AJ = Action Jackson - Got - Bhp?

Definitely not, we just had fun in the sedan compatible parts not on the raw 4X4 territory! Yes it was fun!

White Tusker was mostly on standby and climbed a few slopes which even the Etioses did. The driver was too chicken-hearted and nervous to try the tough ones

Awesome photos Arav, you made my day! Rated 5 stars. I don't think you need a 4x4 to enjoy after what you guys did that day.

Naaice! Good fun was had by all, it seems. And very nice to see pics of UBS sir in action after so many years.

Incidentally 7 years ago I had reported one such offroading event, which had also taken place in Pandua. Probably the same venue, though I can't see the canal in the pics. 1100d can confirm.

That was near Baidyabati, this is near Bainchee station, quite far from each other.

We have had quite a few OTR's since then, reports on some of them can be found from Samba.

Not having a photo is fine! But it was particularly reassuring to know that I there wasn't a threat of being run over, especially since am a quintessential "biwi bachche wala aadmi"!

Since it was a Kolkata OTR thread I kind of ambled in. Everything else is good but a Monsoon OTR in Feb? Are we early or too late?

I guess the original thread started August, 2014 and this is just another OTR at the same venue.
No separate thread was created. Not a biggie
