I always thought that those were too big for the gypsy engine bay, and thus lead to a loss of 4wd (due to having to remove the front transfer case), aside from making the gypsy too front heavy?

If you plan to plonk in a V8 in a Gypsy, things have already gotten a little too much. Cutting off the body here and there, or rather building the body around the engine, to accommodate the engine is not new.

All engines chosen are lightweight, and yes, 4x4 still remains.
