When modification serve a purpose, the good old ever green Tata Sierra 4X4 extensively used for flood relief work touching the lives of many at flood/landslide hit Wayanad in Kerala. Live on Tata Sierra!! Kudos to Jayesh PK.

Also big round of applause to the entire jeepers who took out their machines courageously and climbed the no road rough terrain to supply the basic needs for those who affected.

Re: Offroaders with a big heart! 4x4s doing flood relief work

I live in Wayanad, Kerala and the situation here is very bad. The destruction of property was in hilly areas and was much larger than what happened last year.

This was yesterday when we went along with Forest Ranger and officials to clean the flooded homes of tribal colonies. The septic tank, drinking water well everything got submerged and they don't even have a source of drinking water and live around 15kms inside the forest. A lot of places are affected like this. It's sad.

In another area, you need to see to believe around 100 acres are gone, and that an entire village settlement is under the debris. Cars, Houses, Temples, Churches, Hotels...

Ours was one of the first vehicles to visit the affected area and evacuate people to relief camps. Staying in camps is well, not really an easy task.

We do have proper and professional rescue team in our country, but, during the first moments of a disaster happening and in areas where it's not severe enough to gather attentional, police and local support is really not enough. Offroaders , their vehicles and recovery equipments really helps..

It's commendable that you could get to the places which were affected and help out.

Don't you think it's better to be secured with seat belts? The uniformed officer also does not seem to be strapped.

What you have pointed out is absolutely right. We were stopping every minute for at least 20 times to measure the road and track to concrete it and make the road motorable to 4x4's with no MT tyres or winch. But, that doesn't mean one shouldn't belt up even for a minute for how many ever times.

Did the Sierra continue with the duty after it was flooded? I am curious if all the electronics/electricals function after getting flooded so badly.

Reminds of the phrase, simple yet sophisticated. I am beyond words to express the gratitude for the effort you guys have undertaken, even so the machines that were by your side to do what you intended to do. Kudos to both the man and the machine. I am simply without words, especially the flooded Sierra.

Cheers!

Re: Offroaders with a big heart! 4x4s doing flood relief work

Well, any language would be short of words in the dictionary to describe the courage you guys have shown. Pure 4x4 is indeed an engineering marvel in automobile industry. We see all pseudo SUV’s having AWD / 4X4 nowadays. But, the original breed is right here in the pics & videos. They say wherever the elephant leads, the path is created. But, here my friend 4x4’s lead where there’s no path. So basically these are our man made Tuskers

God bless you guys for taking the courage to go out and help the needy. Hope our nature restores the balance soon and humans respect nature for what it is!

Heartfelt wishes to those who helped!

Now will the vociferous RTO reconsider the modifications that were made on these cars for the greater good!
