43 is a rather young age to die of a cardiac arrest. Sad to hear this and feel sorry for his family. I hope the organizers won't get blamed in the typical blame game that sometimes unfolds. Clearly he had a medical situation brewing before this.
May God bless his soul. Sad.
Don't know what triggered this heart attack, but it should serve as a reminder to all of us while offroading (and otherwise) = don't push your body too much, be well hydrated and carry food along. 4-wheeling can involve a lot of walking & physical activity.
One reason I gave up offroading in April & May is that the heat zapped the hell out of me (no a/c in my Jeep). On some occasions, I've returned home completely drained.
This is very saddening.
We should take this as a reminder to get ourselves checked from time to time, especially something as rough/exhilarating as off-roading or any motorsport in general.
RIP!
This is why I insist that basic first aid course is a must before any excursion - offroad or trekking where one will be in the wilderness. Maybe a life could have been saved.
In our group of off-roaders here in mumbai, everyone does a one year refresher first aid course.
