I had gone to the base of St. Thomas Mount today morning, and did some quick off-roading.

First off-roading with my Gypsy......some BORing stuff.-dscf1376.jpg

The red and blue lines show the paths I took. Since I had gone by myself, could not take any "in-action" pics

. Just took this one pic after parking the Gypsy on the slope. The road leading to the top of St. Thomas Mount is seen behind/above the Gypsy.

After uploading the pics in the computer, i realised that the angle of the picture made the slope look very ordinary. I should have taken another pic giving the side view, which would have given a better idea of the gradient involved.

The first attempt I made at slow speed, and I had to shift to 4L to make it. The second attempt, with better momentum, and in 4H.

For you Gypsy owners only, what is a good all around tyre for a Gypsy e.g. good off and on road? And, what is a good tyre size for Gypsy e.g. if oversize what size tyre will not make steering difficult once the tyres have some wear on them?

DirtyDan, I am using BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A's.
these are 215/70 R15..
205/70 R15 is also a very good choice..

That gradient is good! I passed out from OTA and Chennai members would swear by it that those people at the academy made me measure every inch it by running and rolling up/down from it

You could do it in 2WD!

Sometime last month, I had been to the same spot of beach where i had done the off-roading in January. I was surprised by the change in the shoreline in just 2 months. I took some pics again to compare. One spot where my cousin stood to take the pics is completely under water now
