Brilliant Exposure ! Text book photography.

Would like to see some nice 4X4 shots of the Sumo though.

Amazing, wonderful and nostalgic! Wow I was there almost 12 years back and the landscape, colors everything still looks same. Then I didnt realise what a treat it was to be there until I got back in the crowds of so called civilisation! Anyone planning a trip that side, please, share your plans in advance. I would love to reclaim my life!

Also not very convinced about the photos of the fallen truck (where it is said that the Sumo was driven around over the rocks)....
when we last met Robert did mention that he had more pics or video (cannot remember, was after a few beer) of the sumo 4x4 driving around the fallen truck...

I recollect reading somewhere that one can verify through canon software that a digital image has not been tampered with... if anyone does have this software I could ask robert to send the RAW files for verification.

As I mentioned earlier several images have been stiched together...

sat : he drove the sumo around the truck, taking a path on the right side of the fallen truck (past the wheels) in 3rd pic.
Would love to see a 4x4 SUV doing so, in that spot. Anyone else would have driven around on the other side.

Oops, was under the impression I had posted here, had mentioned to a friend in a email... robert also uses the shift movement (left to right for a horizontal image) handheld of the 24mm tilt/shift lens to stitch two or more images ...

Stunning landscape pics.the might of the Himalayas can be compared to none else. But,really I think, the ideal vehicle there is not a Sumo but a Mahindra 4x4

Hai,

Aug 24th to Sep 14th, 2008, ex-Delhi, there would be some Cars headed that way, doing the full monty (Delhi-srinagar, Kargai, padam, Leh, Nubra, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Graampho, Tabo, Chdh, Delhi) and some seats are available. Time permiting, Chandratal also may be covered.

Yesterday at Mumbai, me and Kumar (The Road Warrior) were discussing the broad details.

Pl.PM me if really interested, the dates are more or less fixed, only the detailing/routing/day-wise scheduling etc. are to be worked out.

Happy Driving,

--Ramky

Is available. but you have to place order.

Army/IAF is using them for quite some time. you can distinguish them by large plastic added to wheel arch. and 4x4 written on side fender in fake chrome.

more pics from robert - Kinnaur,Spiti,Lahaul,Ladakh,Suru and Zanskar

some more images from Robert Huber taken during a recent trip to Kinnaur, Spiti, Lahaul, Ladakh, Suru and Zanskar.

I joined Robert on a visit to Udaipur (his vehicle was serviced there) in his 4x4 which had new bridgestone duellers, D689. His sumo is nicknamed 'safed hathi' (white elephant), this is written on his 4x4 sumo in all the scripts of the area he has visited all over India.
