Tell a story....

Hi Vinod & Vikram,

You guys are the winners of TPC2008.

Now tell the members who could not attend, about the Special Stages and the pictures.

Regards,

Congrats to the Winners and to all participants.

It is a bit of an irony that a "Gypsy" is used to win in the category of "Most Performing 4WD" in a "Jeep"thrills event.

No question about that! Does it need to be a Gypsy in a "Jeep"thrills event ?!

boss, i dont understand whether you are chiding yourself in saying that.

This was a proper 4x4 event for serious off roaders who knew their machines and how to exploit them.

BTW, can you elaborate what a true jeep is, for the betterment of fellow bhpians?

In your Opinion, is the MM540 DP or XD, a true jeep?

@-GT-, just saw your profile. You own a TLC 200 4.7 V8 in Chennai? Guess you should'nt be asking me silly questions.

Hey headers, I think he is just looking at it purely from a nomenclature point of view. As in, isn't JeepThrills supposed to be about Jeeps ? How come something like a Gypsy figures there, for it is not a Jeep (ie.Mahindra Jeep) ?

SB, kindly define a "true" jeep.

Jeep thrills is the name given to the offroad group that was started by Anjan Cariappa, Arkaprava Datta and one more person [I think Srivardhan]

I am sure these guys know and understand what a true jeep is - but due to unavailability of these rare machines, they included the Mahindra Jeep and its variants in it as well.

With time, the gypsy though is not a jeep was a part of the group as well.

Yeah, I did get the nomenclature point as well, especially after looking through his profile. -GT- owns a V8 TLC and we are yet to meet him in any C-TBHP meet. Sir, you hear me, please do attend the next C-TBHP meet! Please!

I am neither chiding myself (?!) nor chiding anyone else.

Given the often hidden (and sometimes quite open) competitiveness between Jeep fans and Gypsy fans, I was just pulling the legs of Jeep fans in lighter vein.

I fully appreciate that and am amazed by their capabilities.

Obviously, a true Jeep is the one manufactured by the owners of that brand. However I consider the MM’s as Jeep’s since they are from the same pedigree (though the name itself is not licensed to MM for these models) – don’t you think so?

My post was not intended to ruffle the feathers of any Jeep fan – neither do I want a war to start between Jeep fans and Gypsy fans.

You should be kidding; no way can I afford to buy one in India. As long as I am in Middle East, I can as well enjoy the luxuries. The day I return back to India, I will start a new thread “Which 4x4 to buy?”

@SupremeBaleno and @Headers:

By the time I managed to put in my reply to headers to his previous posts, I see two more posts.

@headers: Until I return to India, I can only envy you guys having bash at the Off-road sessions.
