Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Well was waiting for this report. From what i heard from a friedn there were supposedly 50 odd vehicles. Looked like extreme stuff and heard that there was learning lots of new stuff. He didnt complete the entire stretch on day 1 as he felt his vehicle could not bear the brunt. |

BHPian ![]() | ![]() Lovely snaps Shahnawaz. The pics makes me wanna buy a Jeep and join you guys on your next adventure! How come no Scoprios / Safaris (if I saw the pics correctly)? I would've loved to see the performance of these more powerful vehicles under these conditions. Last edited by sushanthr77 : 15th July 2008 at 12:47. |

![]() ![]() You know there was a Pajero there, but was not taken forward to the OTR sopt because everyone felt that it would not be able to complete this moderate OTR. The reasons for not many 'so called powerful ' vehicles being present in OTR's can be found here:

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes, on this stretch ALL 4x4's, except one (Sibi Paul's Willys Petrol Jeep), had to be towed out by the tractor. Infact some of the jeeps were so badly stuck that 2-3 tractors + jeeps had to pull them out. However; this was the the ONLY stretch that vehicles got stuck. Rest of the stretch was relatively very easy -- that's why no pictures of those stretches ![]() |

At the meeting point before the OTR, the Gurkha was the center of attraction of all people. People were just looking and discussing how it had diff locks, this feature, that feature, torque etc etc.. Naturally, people had very high hopes on the Gurkha and it DISAPPOINTED' (atleast me). Can't figure out why, but the body weight, the stupid front bumper (very low height) was totally against the Gurkha. However; credit to the driver -- he had guts to take it there and did not loose patience and tried every bit to make the Gurkha work.

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Hey shahnawaz, Nice pics, the extreme lean angle of MM540 is scary. Why did other jeeps take the same route when every thing got stuck on the same streatch? I see MM40, two MM540 and a utility stuck on the same section. Later i saw few pics vehicles taking the obstacle straight ahead. How was Gurkha performing? Does this also come into "morden 4wd with only show and no go label"? Was it too heavy for slushy conditions? How useful were diff locks? The utility 4wd in the picture seems to be a well maintained piece. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Shahnawaj , Could you describe what did sibby paul jeep do to clear the obstacle without getting stuck where every one else got stuck? Was he the first one to go? |
