Great pics Shahnawaz. So like we discussed after our OTR, you guys managed to camp out and spend a night in Soligere. Wish i could have been there but then atleast my jeep made it to the OTR. As usual excellent photos and writeup.

@mjothi

Before that he would land his front wheels on your aveo's windshield and continue asthough he had passed over a small rock or a boulder would you try to give it a shot, as you read this post i see you cursing and shouting at me ..

Sharath, you must do this one. not just for the terrain but the camping + view part also. Drop in any time and we all just need a reason to go to Soligere -- any time.

Quite agree. Also, in 'organized and large' OTR's you miss out on fun and I feel that OTR with close friends is the best thing. nothing beats it.

Who knows, maybe he works in Toyota :-)

@Kittigadu: Krishna! Nice pics and write up and certainly when you flagged me down and invited i should have joined but had to take care of some things during the week end and this OTR would have been a great experience. But again, some other time would take time off and join you "JEEPERS AND CREEPERS" .

@Khan, Sreeraj, Kitti, Jammy, Vish: This is one super duper OTRavelogue! I dont't want to repeat what others have said - only that I completely agree with them!

@Sree and Kitti: It would have been really great to have such a memorable first OTR experience.

@Khan: TIP (from real life experience) - Take boiled eggs next time. You can also make pretty good egg masala or egg curry with them very quickly and yeah no stains on the person carrying the eggs.

Soligere Peak: Another Perspective

I think these 2 pictures below should throw another perspective on how wonderful Soligere peak is and why we never get tired of going there at a drop of a hat. -- both from an OTR + camping + view perspective.

The picture below is the watch tower at the base of Soligere and is a small hillock. The red lines in a very rough manner indicate the way to Soligere peak.

From the soligere peak, this is the watch tower hillock. the small red circle. Now imagine the thrill of doing off-roading from down there to the peak.
Soligere Camping + Cooking + OTR: 13th Sept-tower_below.jpg

And yes, one more picture of me trying to bring down my tent in the morning. :-). Just imagine sleeping with that view and waking to that view. :-)

Thanked: Once

Hey Guys,
Thanks a ton for sharing the photos and the info.
YOU ALL LIVE MY DREAM.
I am destined to make it there for camping very soon.I have seen the route in the map/sat image.

I just have one question, if any of you would be kind to answer, I will be thankful.

Question:-Is it not ILLEGAL to camp at this hill top? If some kind of permission is required then how to get it.?

Regards

2 years is, I think, a wee bit too late to thank them for the pics/info

Apart from the fact that you had me confused on how I missed this thread till it became 3-pages long (assuming it was talking about Sep 13 2010 !!!)
