After this we started for the Planned OTR, but the strech was disapponting due to lack of rain from one week. There was a small patch with some slush. Thats when we noticed this huge sand pile and decided to have some fun. As usual Dwarak was the first one to start with

Great Pics. Waiting for more.
How did the swift fare. Just thinking how would lesser mortals like an Alto do in such terrain and will it ever reach the destination.

Nope. I could not make it. And I do hope that smiley is not meant sarcastically. I call them my kids because I mean it.

Cheers,

What to say! Just speechless after going thru these photos! The place, the fun, the vehicles... just great!

Kittigadu, so you got to check your ride on the terrain it is supposed to be ridden on!

The shot of the Safari make a good sales brochure snap!

Sakleshpur OTR Report..

Friends, it was a super duper weekend. All of us had amazing 2 days of fun with lots of driving + OTR + chilling + breathtaking views of the rolling green hills + camping + barbecue + sand bashing.

In short -- perfect weekend. A total of 17 people (Just about perfect number) with 7 4x4's.

The terrain was not that much difficult but would have been a havoc if it were raining. More important than the terrain was the fact that everyone got together as if all of us knew each other for ages. (in fact that's the beauty of OTR's with less vehicles & number of people)

Some highlights of the OTR meet. (I did NOT click even a single picture, so will be doing a text report only)
  • This is the first T-BHP 'OTR Meet' here in/around Bangalore. In a way, many T-BHPians have joined OTR's organized on other forums, but this one was conceptualized, planned and executed on T-BHP.
  • Most folks were experiencing off-roading for the first time or just the second time. I am sure each one of us has learnt something or the other about off-roading and would be looking for to more OTR's
  • The OTR had all the elements that make a successful OTR -- Vehicles getting stuck, tow ropes being used, vehicle breakdown, jeep to be towed back to campsite from the OTR spot etc etc..
  • It is good to see participation of families and women folks in OTR. This way off-roading can become a complete family outing & adventure engagement.
  • The 4x4 safari performed quite well and managed to complete the terrain -- even with H/T tyres. It slipped, at times it had to try several times to cross a terrain BUT in the end it did ALL of the terrain. Kudos to the driver for this effort. (having said this, it would have been a totally different ballgame if it were raining).
Looking at the pictures, I must say that these pictures don't convery even 5% of the beauty of the place. There are just 1000's shades of green one can see in just one frame.

Need to plan another trip soon to Chandans place.

@Chandan. Thanks for the idea and all the arrangements. It just can't get better than this. You have a heavenly place -- just tooooo good.

PS: Just heard about a planned OTR on 13th December @ Munnar :-)

A 2wd car won't make even 100 mts into the OTR terrain . The Swift was left safe and sound at the campsite.
