Exclusive Safari coverage.

As many know, this is a dream vehicle for so many guys over here. And seeing your dream machine performing something like this is surely one of the greatest thing to see. Add to that, sitting inside the beast when its performing. It has to be felt rather than I type here.

First, I appreciate Hrag for the guts & confidence on his Dicor Ex 4x4 to take it to these extreme terrains. And did not mind some of the few hits he had on his machine. Seems he has prepared for anything that could happen over there.

Now the actions.

After seeing every ones shuttle service on the steep slope, Rishi decides to take his machine down.

Vinay(?) accompanies him on the passenger seat.

Rishi ready to drive down his Safari.

Manoj, I am a point & shoot type person. You can call the pictures fluke (if at all you think they are good :-)). My sole objective on this OTR was to capture action shots of my wifey driving the gypsy in some terrain. Rest all was a bonus :-)

Cheers,

The next spot was right behind the one where we had all these fun.

The path was more inclined than the one you just saw. our Mods went for a visual inspection for the terrain and decided that it would be ok to do that.

The jeep tries to get that inclined route.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5077.jpg
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5078.jpg
Look at the smoke coming from the right rear wheel. It was loosing traction in the rear. And kept sliding down for everyattempt. So, we decided to have some weight. Me and kitty get into the rear and the next try, zoom it passes the climb.

Then comes our Vijay. Look at him with those hat man, looks like a professional jeepers on those old hindi movies

He just took it in one try with no hurdles.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5080.jpg
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5081.jpg

Then Safari decides to make it. Rishi tries to bring it near the rock, but got stuck near the rock. Then he backs up and then moves forward towards the rock.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5082.jpg

First he tries only to come down in the same speed and hit the ground at the back. So, next time Vinay also joins him in the driver seat and then they pick some momentum and cross the rock.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5083.jpg

Now its Kitty's turn.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5085.jpg
He takes it and half way got stuck. Did you notice a videocamera guy taking video? He is from TV9.

He was trying but the jeep started to fall down and slide. We were worried if its going to topple. But luckily it descended at an angle.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5088.jpg
Look at the angle it landed down.

Then Vinay takes the driver seat and then the next try was a success.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5090.jpg
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5091.jpg

When all these happening here, look at our Khan, he started putting "8" on the hill top.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5089.jpg

Then Rishi wants to try himself. So he decides to take it now again.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5097.jpg

After all those "8"s Khan comes down to take it on this. First he tries but fails, loses traction and he is back to ground.

Then in the next attempt he took it straight with some difficulty though.

Next the Classic. It was going so smooth, no sound, no hiccups nothing. Just moved slowly on the rock and done.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5098.jpg
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5100.jpg

Then Dwarak wanted to try the terrain. He first tried, almost half way and slipped. I think he tired so many times but the vehicle said a big no.

At some point it was almost sure that it was about to topple. Look at the angle the Gypsy landed after going straight on the rock.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5109.jpg

Slowly people guide him to come back. Then Vinay tries to take it. But with no success. Then they almost gave up and thats when another person (whats his name???) comes and tries it to take it.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5120.jpg

He was 90% done and then Gypsy started showing is face. It began to slide and wheels started to slip. Thats when our friends Kitty & one more gave the 2 pairs of human leg power and finally it made it.
Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5121.jpg

Now its Girish's turn. First it slipped, but the next attempt was very professional.

The classic never had any rules or anything. Wherever it wants, it started to climb. Seeing this in action, the TV guy literally ran to capture this.

The avatar may ask: "got mud?" but the real question is "got dinner?"

mjothi, what a superb report! :-) You've saved me a report while helping me relive the whole episode. I will add my comments after mjothi finishes his fantastic report.

The Classic

Look at the driver & driver seat. The guy was walking down and had the Jeep in crawling mode. It was like a guy talking his BULL for a walk

When we all ended in the road, he again started up to the mountain.

End of Sholay Hills

When we were about to leave from the main road, guys decided that it was (12pm) too early to head back to Bangy. So, we decided to head to next OTR spot. Chetan and Kiran left for home.

It was here we took a right for the next OTR

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5130.jpg

We were stopped because there was a VIP expected to cross.

While waiting we spoted this cute on-track vehicle

VIP arrives

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5134.jpg

Once we cross the gate, rain starts to pour.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5135.jpg

Luckily we were inside the Safari.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5136.jpg

We could see the open jeep guys running for cover.

Off roading Report- Ramnagaram Sholay Hills-img_5137.jpg
Look at Vijay, he was using the jeep cover as his shelter.

We then crossed a huge hump on the way to top. Actually we left all the jeep to pass to it so that it will chop the top. Then we made it.

When we are heading further, Safari got royally stuck on a huge rock. The left side footboard got damaged. Then finally it joined the rest of the crowd.

View from top

Then we reached the "Chetan" dhaba, had nice lunch and dispersed. Before we left, there was also talk of next OTR proposed for the weekend of 2nd Nov. Lets keep our eyes & ears open to know when and where it is planned.

Thanks Vijay for the ride back to your place.

End of report.

I do that a lot with my CJ340. Recently I put my boss on passenger seat on a slight uphill, and jumped out of driver seat. It happily chugged along and climbed the incline without ABC and to his wonder. After sometime he started steering from the other side to avoid some shrubs.

now got down and checked the free wheeling hubs. Damm!! it was not locked

on the way back to highway, Dwarak's gypsy tyre was going flat. we observed it and asked him to stop. he stopped his vehicle and was checking out the tyre pressure with the air pump he had. we had wait for him. what shall we do till then?? by the time he corrected his tyre pressure we had a mini OTR right away there and back to the road.
