Hi Snaronikar, Difficult proposition.

Get a tent on hire from Adventureworks or wildcraft.

Hi all ,

Attached herein is the Xls worksheet. Please update the same for participation. If you are not geared up for tent and sleeping bags, Please do so immediately.

We can't get the cottage for stay, excepting for nature calls and freshening. So, tenting is the only option.

Participants are requested here that, we all meet at Nice Road junction on Tumkur Road sharp at 5.00 a.m. Departure from Tumkur Road is at exactly 5.30 a.m. People who arrive late , need to catch the rest of the team at Mayura Hotel near Chennarayapatna or at Sakleshpur. We wish to make this travel very limited stopping and reach Sakleshpur by 1 p.m. max. Post lunch we have offroading on Munjarabad trails.

Please keep to the schedule.

Dwarak, with your permission, I will put up the route details.

0 km: starting point (NICE Road ramp meets NH4 / Tumkur Road)
11.1 km: Turn left here (junction of NH48 and NH4) towards Hassan / Mangalore
90.8 km: Hotel Mayura (Bellur Cross) on the LHS, this is our breakfast stop
143.5 km: Kamat Upachar on the RHS, after Channarayapatna (no planned stop here, given only for reference)
164.3 km: Vidhata / Gayatri dhabas on the LHS (no planned stop here, given only for reference)
207.9 km: Ossoor Restaurant on the RHS (no planned stop here, given only for reference)
210.1 km: IOC bunk, Kanchanaganga Fuel Station, Kollahally, on the LHS, we tank up here
212.8 km: Sakleshpur Town Hall on the LHS
218.7 km: Take the side road on the LHS here. A rusted board displays "Manzirabad Fort". This stretch is a sweeping right hand curve, take the side road just after the tea stalls.
226.4 km: Turn right here for a gravel road. You will come to an intersection, keep straight
228.0 km: chandan's cottage, turn right here and there are acres available to park your rides (in gear and handbrake applied)

Overall, the route is:
Bangalore - NH4 - Nelamangala - NH48 - Solur - Kunigal - Yediyur - Hirisave - Channarayapatna - Hassan - Sakleshpur.

Dwarak,

Have updated the excel file. Most probably I will be coming alone and my wifey may not accompany me. (My mother is leaving to Delhi on Saturday and it is important that one of us be there in Bangalore that day)

Few observations:
  • Chandan's name is missing from the list .
  • As of now, we have 20 people and 8 4x4's. Good to see Giri, Suresh & Sibi's name there.
  • Apart from Giri, is there anyone with a winch? We may need it. Remember Vikram was mentioning that the so called tough route would need a winch.
  • Lots of folks without tents/sleeping bags/mats etc.
Cheers,

Hi Dwarak

I have updated the excel sheet with my cell no. And currently I have mentioned 'N' for the Tent Available section. But I have asked a friend of mine to either buy or rent a tent from the Wildcraft store in Cambridge Layout (I hope I am talking about the correct store. The last I went there was like 2 yrs back!!)

Cheers,
Sorry for asking this. But I see that there are 11 people who said 'Y' for Tent Available part. How many people can one tent accommodate? I am a total newbie in these aspects

@Iswear

depends, some tents can accomadate 4 people and some 2 or even 1.
so, depends on the size of the tent actually.

Guys, less than 48 hours to meet up at the starting point. Get your tents / sleeping bags / mats now, if you haven't already.

Important: THE OPTION OF SLEEPING IN THE COTTAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE.

Wildcraft has stopped renting out tents. You may have to try someplace else.
