Guys, what a OTR.

All jeep/Gypsy got STUCK and was towed. A wonderful camp + OTR. Jeeps stuck in slush, rock and what not?

Infact, the Jeep that went to rescue a Gypsy, ended up to be resuced by the same Gypsy Details to follow with pics from Vijays cam.

A glimpse of the camp

No Riju, he shields the Aveo from OTRs, he always hitch rides on jeeps / Safari when it comes to OTRs.

Aveo is only for cruising

3:45pm 1st Saturday, Nov 2008

I pack my stuff for the camp and leave to Vijay's place. park my car there and hop in to his jeep. The rain he faced after the Ramnagaram OTR has disturbed him a lot I guess. He has modded his jeep to have top cover and was experimenting it with the normal car cover, tied to it. Not bad.

We start from Koramangala. it was like 4:45pm and we thought we would be little late for the 5pm meet in IIM Bangalore. Add to this, the Rajyotsava celebrations on the roads made us think that we will miss the crowd and need to go on own own.

And we reached there around 5:15pm and saw no jeeps over there. We thought we were late and all left. Called Hrag and came to know that he will be in 5-10min to the spot. Ok, we are first to reach. [If we are not considering the fact taht Hrag came there by 3:45pm and left for a drink ]

When we were waiting for the rest to come, I went to Nilgiris and got soem breakfast, utilized the ATM.

Then Dwarak reached there followed by Hrag. When we were saying hi to others, I saw Dwarak waving his hands to a jeep guy on the road. Ithought he was a known guy to Dwarak. but later found that whenever he sees a jeeps he will pull them. Lol.

We had a talk with him, the jeep was from Ooty and the guy was trying to sell his jeep. Had initial talks and he left.

Now, we started to head to Pearl Valley. On the way, we thought of buying 'water' for the thirst. Stopped at Guru palace, gave some business to Mallaya.

When we reached pearl valley, it was dark. Should be around 8pm. I had no clue of the place since it was already dark.

We parked the vehicle and fond a spot for Bonfire. Dwarak was well prepared with wood logs and other stuff for the same. He also brought 2KGs of potatos. Wrapped it to the aluminum foil and put it into the bonfire.

Preparing for the campfire

Time to open the KFs. Had KF and potato.

Then we started to put our tents. Then Sunil Joined us around mid night with 2 of his friends. Chated for some

time and then hit the "bed". It was so cold out there and we had nto so bad sleep.

Morning around 5:30am we got up. I came out of the tent to see a beautiful surrounding around us.

This is what we see.

Then it was breakfast time. Since we used all the wooden logs the previous nights for campfire, we used the dry scrubs around there to have our "stove".

Once all done, we call our guys in bangalore and they were ready to leave by 9am from there. So, we had plenty of time. Decided to do a small recce for the OTR and started to explore the location. We found a good spot in the valley and discussed how we can do and came back to the camp spot. it was only 9:30, till 1-1.5 hours for our guys to come there. We were lying down on the Safari shades.

Yes. that's a usual practice lots of folks from jeep_thrills/Gypsy group do. You will be surprised to know how many people have joined our group through this method. at times they stop on seeing so many jeeps or we stop them.

PS: Dwarak at times leaves his visiting card in the jeep (with a note on the back side) if he sees one in a parking lot and can't recognize whose jeep it is :-)

Cheers,

Hmmm. Good OTR.

And btw, on Saturday evening around 4:30PM, Isaw a Willy Jeep parked infront of the Coffee Day near Jyothi Nivas College, Koramangala. Was it someone from this thread? Or team-bhp? Just curious!

And ya, when is the Sakleshpur trip happening?

Its good too. It feels like, "one of us" is going. No wonder how this community is growing.
