Bangalore 4x4 offroad - 1st March (Sunday) -- Savandurga Trail

Calling for an offroad session on the 1st of March (Sunday).

Suggestions for the venue include solegiri. Wonderful place and the cool weather should still hold up. Not very tough being dry weather. Road going 4x4's should do it. I believe there is an alternative route for which we need permissions. The last time, we could not get through. If people here have alternative suggestions, please post up. All 4x4 vehicles are welcome.

I will not mind suggesting tippegondanahalli again. Fantastic terrain. Very tough. Can never get bored.

Again, alternative suggestions please post up. Tougher, the better. We will be running in with about 6 immediate confirmations from jeepthrills. Cheers and i look forward to mayhem!

Hey RedLiner,
Awesome idea .. I only own a Fusion + and haven't been able to own a 4X4 till now. So, i guess, i would not be able to be a part of this event. If your plan gets finalised, just let me know if there is some meeting point of you all somewhere around Bangalore. Would love to meet up..

Cheers,
Deepak

Savandhurga OTR

Well, i could suggest this to you guys. last time myself, mukund, Johny and our khan did a recce here, but could not able complete it. i have marked the route to follow with numbering the landmarks.
1->TG Halli Dam on Magadi road
2->where you need to take left from Magadi main road
3-> A village
4-> where you need to take right turn and get into mud road which will take you to a small village and continue further.
5-> water crossing point after the small village where the OTR begins
6-> Can be a camping spot as the water source is nearby
7-> Destination (Savandhurga Temple)
From point 6 to 7 is the actuall OTR, but we could not able to do it as it was getting dark in the evening.

Just spoke to bravo and yes, it makes sense for us to go complete this recce. Do post up on what this terrain actually looks like. If we intend this to be a recce, we probably want to keep it tight and quick.

Its a dry terrain, have to pass through scrub jungle. at some point where you need to squeeze through the scrubs. gypsy and a jeep with 48" can do it but any 4x4 with wider track cannot do it without struggling hard.
here goes few pics how it looks like.

Count me in -- nothing else matters :-)

HOWEVER: This being a recee, I would suggest the following:
  • No more than 5-6 4x4's.
  • NO camping on this trail this time. We can do that later after we have explored the complete trail
  • We leave early and come back by lunch time or so. Weather being pretty hot, it makes sense to reach the OTR spot early on
As usual, all OTR principles apply of ensuring that your 4x4 is in good shape, tow rope, etc etc..

Good points shah. So the first few jeeps or gypsies to confirm will make it. We have 2 jeeps and 1 gypsy here, and 3 other vehicles on jeep thrills. Others are welcome to join, though we probably recommend you jump into a jeep/gypsy.

Shakir, there was a trail which leads to savandhurga. it was a walking path infact to put it in correct statement. But i am sure it was not the dead end for us. We did not try it further just because it was getting late. Hope Shahnawaz could throw his opinion on this.

Ouch! It should indeed be on Sunday 1st March. Many apologies. Can someone alter the thread title to 1st March instead. I ended up assuming 28th Feb was a Sunday.

Cheers!
