Yes dippy, mainly toyota's (prado and fortuner) and mitsubishi's (pajero) and modified jeeps. we did have one outlander, it got stuck and the guy was really scared to drive further, finally they took him back (wheeler drove the vehicle).
Everyone was really amazed by the performance of a tucson, that guy really managed to pull out even in the places where some prado's and pajero's (due to some unexperienced drivers) stuck and at the final phase he got stuck and was to be towed away, marshals told him not to bring the vehicle to the desert since it was'nt meant to be and this was just a newbie drive we did'nt go to moderate/difficult dunes.

Vikram, good that you started a thread on this. I've taken some snaps. I have already uploaded them on Facebook. I'm facing connection problems while uploading them here.

Do have a look at Vinayak Menon's Photos - Dune Bashing with Emarat 4x4 | Facebook and share your comments. These are snaps from the intermediate drive. I was in the passenger seat of Steer's (TATA) Defender.

Thanks Vikram and Vinayak - was too tired to post after almost a full day of digging and recovering. I was pooped out by the evening, which is why I said I wont be joining up later .

I dont have any pics, it was a HOT and busy day with nearly 40-45 vehicles.

Next week (Friday) is the BBQ driveout which will start past noon and will end with (duh!) BBQ somewhere near Big Red. Do join in - it is an intermediate drive, NOT newbie. ~GT~ is on the drive, so you guys can hitch rides with the two of us.

Am waiting for the next full moon, when PR normally calls for the Night Wolf drives!

Steer was sweating after all that digging. The recovering was a lot of effort. Around 4 different instances. A Mitsu Pajero, a Mitsu Outlander, an FJ (which returned the favor later on), and one more which I don't remember.

The guy in a pajero got stuck 3 times in 10 minutes. At the same place!!! We towed him out each time. Then he went on again and got stuck. Finally, I just unhooked the tow rope from his pajero, dumped it in Steer's defender and the two of us left the place after radioing the marshals to help the guy.

Then there was a skinny kid driving a Hummer H3. We told him to take the easy way out and he'd end up going in the opposite direction. Finally we had to force him to tail the Defender and got him out of the mess.

H2 performed very well, steer should know more about it since it was in expert category and H3 was driven by a young newbie, it did have few stucks (post #16 last pic was taken when H3 had one of it's stuck). Ford F series was at it's best, it provided some good biryani too.
