hello NIOC members,
You guys seem to have loads of fun. Was this the same site you visited last time? The climb seems to have become a challenge of sorts with most modern and hardcore offroaders failing to cross it.
We had similar climb in palar yesterday. Only a gypsy could clear it later MM550 and Land cruiser made it after several attempts.

good show:-)

Oh, just noticed, what is the contraption fixed to this jeep on the front ?? Is it a camera for recording?

Hi,

Its a tow hook and not a camera.

Cheers

The hill was steep, and sandy. Luckily only 4 vehicles had passed, and the sand had not gotten too loose, and with some drama and spinning tires, we made it to the top.
I parked away, and came back with the cam, only to see the jeeps struggling.
The ruts had deepened, and the sand had loosened, and rescue was underway

One by one the Jeeps came.
Take runup

Get stuck, and then get winched out

Lakshmans jeep beached
NIOC OTR 28th March - Pics and Report!-500585028_yw7sal.jpg
The Gurkha also got beached. However no difflocks had been engaged, otherwise she would have come through

another jeep making the ascent

anil has more pics of this ascent. Roshun and Anil... Your pics please!

We reached the Banyan tree, and it was time to move to the second tougher leg.
I was worrying, because my rear tire had a bulge. It had withstood the test of sand, but second trail may have rocks, and I initially contemplated changing the tire.

But in the end, I went on with the bulged tire. Damn those bridgestones. Sometimes they burst, sometimes they come up with bulges.....

To elaborate further, this two hook enables driver less towing, suppose you want to take vehicle to a distant place for OTR etc.,

Yup, it was like a Lazboy recliner for the landy. It seemed to be wondering where is the OTR

The second leg

This was a lot tougher.
Firstly there were rocks, and I was afraid to take the side bulging tire.
So I slowly followed everybody

The villagers were pretty amused
NIOC OTR 28th March - Pics and Report!-500588400_knzkxl.jpg
Thorns were another big worry for me. Who wants to get the sides scratched!
NIOC OTR 28th March - Pics and Report!-500588714_zz2mel.jpg

but somehow I made it, after lot of manual rock lifting etc.,
I shied away from rest of the challenges, where everybody was trying to get stuck

Driving a jeep was a relevation.
The steering was so hard that you don't need gyms. It was basic.. and it worked.
No worries.
I finally understand whats point and shoot

Tanveer,
Great pictures and narration. Give me a day and I'll get the whole set of pics from Anil and put them up here. End-of-year stuff has got me bogged down at work. The office is one place that a 4x4 won't work... only a 24x7 will . (Sorry for the P.J)

Cheers,

Much though I would love to, I'm deterred by the fact that it is always held on a Saturday and I work all 6 days a week and sometimes 7 days too.

Next time will try my best to.

But where did you find the receiver ball hook to tow it. The ones that are available behind the Scorpio or the Pajero look pathetic, and seems like they would'nt handle the load. The Scorpio's hook is nothing but a joke.
