Jaipur Off-road 5 April 09: Pics and Videos

It all starts the night before OTR, you are not able to sleep early due to excitement and why not, coz every time you get more than expected out of your offroad trips.

We had a blasting time on Sunday morning of 5th April. This time we were one Jeep, Gypsy and gang of 5. We went to the same trail as last time.

This is our destination trail, we going there, meeting, planning and starting off.

Same trail looked very different from last time because we had a totally different adventure level as we were two vehicles this time. The terrain was excellent. We kept our difficulty level to medium. It has lots and lots of features and you can increase the difficulty level to maximum too, based on selection of path.

Very soon we realised that our adventure factor is increasing and has reached higher leval and we were enjoying performance of our capable vehicles. In between getting down and planning our way.

The terrain we choose offered nice steep slops and a climb just after that. Then there was loose sand ahead on climb... opps. My tyres..

Yogesh this is some lovely countryside. I would simply love to explore this area.

Why not organize an OTR on this trail.

Where is it ? How long. How much off road, transport section on tarmac ?

What tyres do you have on your Jeep ?

Thanks Shahid, we will soon plan out something. It is not too far from the city, hardly 4-5 kms from my house. As per my knowledge it is a stretch of 8kms of Jungle and offroad between layers of mountain. I have the stock tyres that is F78-15, but they are performing well, better than my expectations. Only problem they give is on sand.

More pics:

I went with full force for the sand but.. dhuppp. it didn't climbed an inch. Tried twice but no good. So turned back and took another path.

See in this picture co-driver disappear.. Actually he is ducking from the branches. All over the terrain there were big thorned branches which were unavoidable.

Nice OTR

Hi Jaipur JEEPers,

Lovely terrain and nice pictures.

On sandy ground try deflating your tyres to 15-20 psi; that will make a huge difference.

Also it will reduce the probability of punctures on rocky ground and thorns.

Looking forward to more events in Rajasthan.

Regards,

Arka

Thanks Roshun, yes the terrain just got better and better as we proceeded further. The pictures are taken by Deky (Dhiraj) indeed he and another friend of ours did great work.

Oh, we completely forgot to deflat our tyres. In fact I was on 30 ps all time as I got it checked a night before. Thanks for advice, I'll remember it next time.

More pics..

As there were so many rocks nearby it was time to stike the "Gypsy of steroids" pose...

We didn't played much with rocks, leaving them for advance stages.. and better tyres.

PS: The front left fender has come off by then..

Gypsy was performing like a matured offroader with Alfa and Anukran sitting inside (both more experienced drivers). Went calm and peacefully over all obstacle.

Then it was learning time. As the obstacle was approached diagonally, two tyres were in air and jeep got stuck. Now it was time to tow it backwards.

Arka bhai,

Didnt know deflating tyres reduces probability of punctures...i thought under inflated tyres are more prone to punctures

Thanks Ankit, we will soon have Alfa's jeep ready and joining us. Otherwise its going to be a tough one in Jaipur as most of the jeeps I have see don't even have 4x4.

Few videos:

Here goes Alfa, if Abhimanyu is there then no need to worry at all...

On the contrary, with vertical tread grooves, these tyres should give you excellent flotation on sand. Much like special Sand tyres like Sumitomo Shaheen or Siam or Dunlop Santrek.

Nice work yogesh!!!
Great pictures!
Wish you and the Jaipur chapter best of luck for many many more future off-roading events.
Would you be joining us for the Hissar OTR now that your 4x4 is complete and functional?
