NIOC OTR - Hissar (10-11, April'09)

Hi everyone,

There is an OTR being planned at Hissar coming weekend.

Quote : Mr. Rabindra Singh (MOD NIOC)

Dear Jeepers,

I returned from Hissar last night where I had gone to recce an area with
Ajaibir Singh, a jeep enthusiast from Hissar. The area is full of
undulating sand dunes, some under cultivation, but the gram crop has
just been harvested and the area is free from cultivation now. There are
some good climbs and descents, as well as some stone quarries nearby
where there are interesting climbs and broken ground. We are also trying
to organise some slush.

I have also arranged with the General Officer Commanding, in Hissar
Cantonement for a visit to an armoured regiment where interested Jeepers
can see a battle tank and also ride on it.

The proposal is to go over the long weekend of 10th to 12th April. We
leave in the early morning of 1oth April and arrive in Hansi (12km from
Hissar) after a three hour drive (good road). We stay at Sheikhpura
Kothi, Hansi. Afternoon visit to armoured regiment. Next day morning
OTR followed by swim and lunch at Ajaibirs fish farm. Departure from
Hissar 4pm, arrival Delhi/Gurgaon 7.30pm.

I have some pictures of the Hissar terrain also which I will give to
Pushkin to upload for everyone to see.

With regards,

RB

So anyone interested please confirm.

Cheers !!!!!!!!

Randeep

Hi

I think I will miss this one as well. My son is too young for a weekend trip. Hopefully in the next few months I should be able to do these.

Randeep will you be going from Delhi in your Tuscan? Maybe I can take the family along after all?

Cheers

Seems interesting, but I would rather travel in my Balero and for the OTR part hitch a ride with one of the Jeepers.

You could go in a Bolero for the OTR also, we would surely have a few 4WD jeepers to pull you out. Even I maybe driving my 2WD Scorpio. I could also arrange my Tractor to go along with us incase we need pulling out. Options always there.

Cheers !!!!!!!!1

Depends on what kind of off road terrain is there to be encountered. The angle of approach and departure of this Bolero are rather poor, so is the break over angle.

The fisrt time I took it off road, the mud flaps peeled off, the rear number plate got damaged, the fog lights on the front bumper skirt broke off.

I would like to raise the Boleros suspension by at least 40 mm to 50 mm.

Is that possible ?

Hi Harjeev,

We all will drive down together. That way more fun, like driving to Chandigarh.

@Sahid,

The terrain is what you would love and I guess have most experience in "SAND". Sandy trails and a few sand dunes but not like the ones you are an expert in. So get the Bolero.

Cheers !!!!!!!!

As I said sand trails and small sand dunes not the kind you have back in Dubai.

Kindly refrain from showing off you machine on an Indian OTR thread.

Thanks

Hope to see you there, your immense know how would be of great help.

Cheers !!!!!!!!

Harjeev - I would love to believe me. But I cant leave the wife and kid all alone at home. I would like to take them along in some comfort and put them up somewhere where they will be comfortable. The kid needs fresh meals cooked so it cant happen in a hotel? So it seems quite unlikely!

My loss!

Cheers

Welcome on board Ankit. My parents and my wife are leaving for Hissar tomorrow as they have to attend a wedding. So if my wife and daughter are not going, your wife and son can spend time with them at our haveli in Dabra.

@Harjeev / Shashank, we guys could stay at the other house if you want but as I said earlier we would have to rough it out.

What says?

Cheers !!!!!!!!!
