@Satnam,

Yes we did get to ride the tank, infact Laxman, Hemant, Pranshu and I also drove the 4WD 2.5 ton Tata truck which was an amazing experience.

The building that you are reffering to is the Sheikpura Haveli with belongs to RB Sirs relative and was where everyone stayed on the 10th night.

Cheers !!!!!!!

I absolutely love that haveli. There are so many similarities between this and my cousins haveli in my village. Since not a lot of people go through the trouble and costs one maintaining one, its a delight to see one in this sort of condiditon.

Thanks Randeep.
It's in village Khurunj, Muktsar. It was started in 1905,and finished at about 1913. The Rajasthan feeder canal goes right through my village, and that time the fertile land was on one side of the canal, and the village was built in the desert on the other side, as to not waste the fertile land. The railway line is like 10kms from the village, and the lanters had to lifted all the way to the village by 10-12 men. The story goes that it was to be included in Pakistan during partition, and a special request was sent to the viceroy include it in India. The border is about a stone's throw away.

Parm,

The Tucson is run on diesel and its a 4x4 only, as in no low ratio gear. I thought my Tuscon would not perform well as I had seen one in the Chandigarh OTR which just kept getting stuck everywhere. But to my surprise it not only performed well it actually excelled at the OTR, doing inclines which most of the jeeps thought tough. The torque was amazing.

As Mandeep mentioned, a lift and maybe a bit larger tyres could do the tricks even better. But thats going to be my next project.

Cheers !!!!!!!!!!!

Guys here's the headlight's cum blackout lights from the T-90, which are the same as those fitted on all the T-series tanks from T-54 onwards, and also a few armoured cars. I've been collecting these things for some 8-10 yrs, and i loads more, but just clicked a picuter of whatever was close at hand.
NIOC - Hissar OTR "Pics and Videos"-image002.jpg
The other things are the Aircraft landing lights, a couple of hunting spotlights, a Tank commanders copula spotlight(i'am going to fit the aircraft lights in it), and one of the few gunmounts that came off the gunports of a BTR80 armoured fighting vehicle.
Everything excluding that yellow " cheap quality chinese" but still very useful hunting light, with a little modifications done to be able to run on 12V automobile AUX. power, besides it's own 6V battery working the 260watt bulb out of a projector. On it's own power it last no-more than 8 minutes, but the range is about a Km strong.

Hey, its off-topic, but i just went through harjeev's gallery regarding the same trip, and i saw this dog there, probably clicked next to the haveli. Does anybody know what this breed is? looks like some sort of a mix between a guddi and a pakistani bully. Anyone?

THis trip would have been plenty of fun.

Its an immaculately maintained Haveli and Randeeps too.

Would love to go there some day. Too bad I was caught up in the election nomination jingbnag.

How was the off road terrain ?

And what is a Cj4 b Jeep ? A later Mahindra variant ? The hunter ?
