Thanks Khan Sabh.
Vijay, do you have any pictures of the springs in your jeep, especially during extreme articualtion. I really want to see how they perform?
And what exactly are everybodies views about same?
I was thinking of using these springs in the Jonga, both front and rear, if the company can cater to a special order, depending on how expensive they are. Alcan springs in the U.S., provided a super articulating set of custom tapered steel springs with a 3.5" lift to a friend of mine for his Jonga/Patrol. Those i think cost him about $800 for the entire set, which i think would put it at par, cost wise ofcourse, to the fiber sets(F&R) available here, right?

Seems like you guys some good mud-bashing out there!

Do I see Kittu's vehicle hiding amongst the line up?

@Kittu, How are your sand tires holding up in these terrains?

After a long time i had some time to spend in bangalore and where else can i be when there is an OTR. Made a few calls and got my friend along. He too is a coorgi and by default a jeeper himself. anyways i shall cut the crap and let the photos do the talking.
The whole thing is divided into 3 parts.
1. The first Hill Climb
2. Second hill climb
3. Third Hill & Mud bath.

Major hurdle

nN our way to the final hill climb, there was a very tricky spot that has to be crossed. Any normal automobile driver would think of alternate routes to cross that.
look at the wheel articulation of each vehicle and the height of the obstacle.

Quick question on the decent control method employed by the Gypsy owners !!
I see that you did encounter steep decents,..were the Gypsys able to achieve engine braking at 4 low during extereme decents.

My expierience with gypsys and decents have been bad,..down right scary at times.
The small capacity engine and the gear ratio even at 4 low is grossly insufficent when attempting steep declines in the terrains.

Advise solicted from all Gypsy drivers except the Mutant Spider !

He he. Since you have mentioned it, how can I then NOT give advice.

Jokes apart, the experience in a stock gypsy is exactly same as what you have mentioned during decent. you HAVE to use brake -- NO 2 ways about it.

Now in dry conditions it may be ok with brakes BUT in slippery conditions such descents can lead to a sudden loss of control while braking and the vehicle can just hurtle down at even greater speeds.

I drove the stock Gypsy for more than 2.5 years. So I know how it feels in there during decent.

Simply mind-boggling pictures! I wish I could join in on all the Bangalore OTR fun. Khan, I'm curious to know how your Gypsy performed relative to the other (stock) Gypsies? On a Mumbai OTR yesterday, Allan's SPoA 550 was flying over spots where I scraped. And the articulation he's managed was phenomenal. What about Dwaraka's new 1.8 ISZ powerhouse?

All of you seem to be enjoying the heat. We were toast yesterday (Mumbai humidity) and I put the doors + air-con on within only 2 hours of being out there!

hi happywheels, yes thats my jeep hiding amongst the others as it was too shy to get into the slush.
Instead it was on standby to pull out those who got adventerous and had its day pulling tirumal's jeep out.

Spidy was the first that had done this obstacle. And by the time we got down from the second hill it was already parked on the other side.
From the top of the hill all i could notice was a gypsy see-sawing on the rocks.

Though it was hot and sunny out there, it was equally windy and that kept us cool.

Krishna.
