So, in spite of all these pit falls, I think, I will make it again, to one of the ‘Most wonderful off road experience’ ……. TPC.

Well said

But its unfortunate that some people still find it hard to comprehend even the basics, and worse, swallow their pride. Hope they can grow up. On a lighter note - Thumps Up might help

Vehicle Scrutiny

As TPC is becoming progressively difficult, as organizers, we need to ensure the safety of all participants and a smooth run; to ensure that the participants have a fun-filled competition.

Vehicle Scrutiny

All 4WDs with be scrutinized on 13th August 2009 for the following

1.Seat Belts (Front Driver & Spotter)

2.Towing Attachments –
i)Front – Polypropylene Sling (5-10mts)
ii)Rated Towing Hook – Gypsy/Gurkha need to be careful.

3.Tyres minimum rated section width of 7.00 inches or 195mm.

4.First Aid Kit – i.e. OEM supplied kits from any car.

5.List of Mandatory Spares. – See Website.

6.All equipment and Kits must be fastened/secured to the body or chassis. i.e. Hi-Lift Jacks, Tow Cables, Jerry Cans, Tool Kits

7.All loose items must be stored under the driver & co-passengers seat and co-passenger’s foot well. E.g. to prevent items flying out, or hitting either participants, or distracting the driver.

8. Working 4WD with 2 Speed Transfer Case .

9.Vehicles which fail to comply with the above norms will not be allowed to participate in the event.

We would like to have the would be participants suggestions on the above.

Regards,

Arka.

Preferably tied up secure with a net or something?
So that it doesn't fall on the pedals during steep descents / braking.

My suggestion is to organize the Tools & Spares separately as

1) Tool Kit - Heavy Canvas (Cotton/Synthetics) Bag
2) Spares - Heavy Canvas Bag
3) Recovery Gear - Heavy Canvas Bag
4) Jack & Wheel Spanner - Heavy Canvas Bag
5) 1 Nylon Sheet (6'x6')- Cable Damper/Picnic Mat/Rain Cover etc.

The Canvas bags are easier to stuff things into and easier to stuff them in places, i.e take irregular shapes, and with a carrying sling are easier to move around.

The Ammunition Boxes look cool, and even cooler when stacked together but increase weight and are heavy.

However they are best as a waterproof storage (Carburettor/Distributor parts)

Regards,

Arka

Ok, I guess I am attending this one in the CJ340. I'll be joining up with the Bangalore boys and come along. The registration part is little confusing, what do we do apart from giving the name? Is the payment done upfront or upon arrival?

Hi Dwarka,

How about a Gypsy Team with Shahnawaz, Siddhartha & Dwarka.

Samurai can lead a TBHP Team with 2 more TBHPians from Mangalore/Bangalore.

Regards,

Arka

I am not even in the same district as Mangalore. Udupi is more like it. Let's see whether Sachin can join in his newly prepared MM550.

Only the mod team can approve any official representation. Besides, all of us here are Team-BHPians.

Sharat, I do not get the above statement. do you mean to say that you are going to represent TBHP "officially" at the TPC09 and your mod team should approve of that?

Or do you want to participate like us less mortals and attain nirvana!

No, I am not representing Team-BHP officially or un-officially at TPC. What I meant was "Nobody can claim to represent Team-BHP officially unless approved by the support team". As a Team-BHPian you could represent Team-BHP officially if approved by the support team, you have better chance of getting approval considering you are a past winner.
