Hi Naren,

All the members of the Organizing team & the participants share the same spirit, but they are not as tall and besides I wanted to get back for Lunch.

@Gurus:
Is this the correct way for using "U" shackle on the tie-band?
Why not just use the U shackle by inserting it in to the loop and also tow loop of vehicle?

Just closing the pin after making the connect should be sufficient? Like illustrated? That is how I had used the tow rope connection during NIOC OTR.

Attachment 170527
There is no tow loop/hook in the vehicle. hence that would be the reason to tie the tow rope to the suspension shakle. but instead of using a U shakle, the other end of the rope should pass through the loop/eyelet(there is no necessity for the U shakle). That is what even recommended by the tow rope manufacturers. The manufacturer provides the info on how to use the same rope with the different methods of tying it and the maximum tonnage rating for each method.

Arka And other pro 4X4 guys, I have a simple stupid question. Why is this one called INDIA's Toughest 4WD off-Road Competition?

Going by the those pictures I couldn't really figure out as what's so tough about those terrains. Don't guys do those on your regular weekend outings?

Sorry if I'm sounding like a dumb but please educate this old haggard.

rudra, a visit to this place will change your mind about the weekend outings part surely. Pictures are very deceptive in this case. Also the trail is designed in a way that will take the hell out of both man & machine. Add the heat factor to all that & you will need lots of skill, personal fitness & a very very fit vehicle to survive this one. I really wish some of you will come for this one at least as spectators.
