Wow! Those are some excellent pictures. I see that off-roading has become regular these days. Lovely Jeeps! Btw, is that a modified MM540?

Nice pictures Allan. A great day out. Which is that spot where Addy and GTO are stuck in the Jeep? Or are they stuck rather?

That's a nice way to spend part of a weekend -- with 2-3 fellow 4x4 vehicles. The MM 540 looks nice and am sure will turn out to be great package when complete.

@x_p: in your SPoA setup, do you plan to correct the steering geometry or will it be like what it is currently? IIRC , in your Gypsy (green UA one) the steering is a Hi-Steer one

Folks, why is so much dust being kicked in these pics?

T'was more of a fun & short holiday drive than a hard-core OTR (though we had blast!).

Highpoints:

1. Nice spot that's only 45 minutes from home (in Mhape). Good for 2 - 3 hours of fun, though in monsoons it'll probably be a 4 - 5 hour duration spot.

2. We couldn't get to a particular hill that I was very keen on conquering. Allan, I tell you, it's a great climb. Next time for sure.

3. Extreme's beautiful 550; that beast had character. SOA was nicely done = killer ground clearance (notice in the pics). It breezed by a rocky decline where I took two hits, one at the front and the other at the back (bent my rear step). Those mudzillas performed pretty well too. GC is becoming my biggest worry (hopefully solved in the near future...wait and watch ).

4. 4wdrifter's kids riding with me. His younger son - studying in 2nd grade - is a petrolhead in the making. Favorite car? Ferrari F50! They even switched my iPod to play "rock on" on a hill climb.

5. Advantage of female presence : 4wdrifter's wife ensured we had a ready supply of ice-cold nimbu pani, bitings, hand sanitizers () etc. etc. in the middle of nowhere!

Tommorow, I'll upload some pics from my cam to this post itself.

Wohaa..

Nice fun OTR on your back yard! The SPOA MM550 looks great!! Are the shocks changed for longer length to exploit the complete stronke of suspension? To me the blue shocks look stock.

p.s The 550 in the picture looks like a monster. I request extreme power to retain the rugged look as it is. Reducing the diff ratio to 5.38, rear and front LSD will make this a formidable offroader.

Nice shots xtreme_power.. doesn't seems to be too hot, what time did you all go?
Even though theres lot more u'll do on it but your 550 looks complete by its own sense, even the seats match overall profile. Nice work.

Waiting for more pics..

Looks like a terrific May day!!! The 550 looks quite powerful and towering a structure. What time did you all leave and how much time did it take to get out of the mud?

The drive was fun for me because I was finally able to drive the Forester everywhere, as opposed to the last one where I had to park her and ride with GTO.
This OTR will be different business in the monsoon and I can't wait! Here are some pictures from my side.
GTO testing the water - turned out to be too deep!

The Forester had 1-2 of its wheels in the air many times but these are the only shots I got. Maybe Addy got a few more?

You guys look like you had a blast. Although I like 3 day 4WD camping trips, these 3 hour mud plugging drives are always fun especially when they are unplanned. Last night I had to pick up a mate from the airport and the flight got delayed so I went to a nearby track to get the truck dirty.
What tyres are xtreme power running? 33” or 35”? Since you do so much mud plugging have you considered Simex Centipedes? Some if my friends use it and I don’t think anything can get better traction, even mud chains.

Allan - the 550 is looking great! Good you see you guys having fun. The 4x4 scene in NCR has taken a summer break with the temp hitting 44c.

Looks like you are going to be a SPOA specialist!

Cheers
Ankit
