Hi folks,

Here it comes. We had a OTR on 7th June i.e. Sunday at Chikkathore, off Magadi Road. We started from Nice Road Junction on Magadi Road at 7 a.m. 14 vehicles, including 1 Pajero and 6 gypsies, 1 MM Pickup and 1 Armada.

Suresh Stephen (CL 340) lead the team and M P Sreenivasan (Armada) was our sweep. Both off roading experts.

We reached the Chikkathore Offroading spot by 9 a.m. Pleasant weather and cloudy sky. Just 2 days back rained heavily. All added up to our OTR adrenaline. Hell broke loose. Is this the right word. may be, may be not.
Action began rolling and cameras went clicking.

Terrain was mix of clayish ground, sand and water. Less of rubbles. On clay no OTR tyres fared better, excepting Maxxis Trapedor of Spider a.k.a. Khan_sultan.

I have been eagerly waiting for this thread since yesterday. I met Ajay (Gypsy-Boy) yesterday and he told me about hell breaking loose yesterday. Tricky terrain and plenty of recovery was required I heard. Nice to see Hrishi and his truck back in action.

Wow, nice to see the Safari Tag along but not venture into dare devil feats. The jeep with its front left lifted was AMAZING!

Hey Headers
The safari came along with the rest of us on all the terrain. And some of the climbs that it successfully did were "dare devil" feats. And all this in the cool comfort of an AC cabin
Made me look at the safari in a new light.

Santosh - your tow cable came in very helpful during this TR.
I am sure all those rescued with it are very grateful for your "proxy" presence

My first OTR with the BLR hudga's and hudigi's

Let the pictures do the talking. Snaps from the turn off from magadi road till the first task of the trail.

First task continues with some getting stuck, then getting stuck and creating a traffic jam and then try try till you get stuck enough to be towed Phew saved by a whisker. Tires are bigger culprits here.

While spidey waits impatiently!

Anf ahh finally the heavy lady makes it across. And then spidey just wades and then climbs the hill as if its just another day.

Beast cant resist the water and in goes with a splash! The front end design gives a very good wave formation.

Beast clears the river and then offloads the passengers so that they can get a better view of the hill. Mind you the climb is quite steep and atleast 4 to 5 vehicles ranging from MM's to Gypsy's to Pajero's that couldnt make it.

Again biggest culprit being the tires. Safari on the other hand has a low reving 3L torque bomb of an engine, nice set of rubbers and a smooth owner controlling it. <Round of applause please>

Some try and retire, some try it first in forward motion then in reverse motion. And then there are some who just bumps off the undulations and hop and climb, inspite of tires from last decade. Those ol MRF's still rock i say!

slip and slide away, freshly built bore so backing off for now. Costly machinery on road tires, we all had high hopes but who would want to scar the Pajie.

And i hop on to spidey and she proceeds to the actual trail, just like she cruises inside the concrete jungle.

Stock Gypsy VS Spider.

Stock needs good run up and momentum and then dhoom dhad dhad, over the hill. Spidey just tip toes up the hill, man this is really a different beast all together with crawlers, spoa and those tires!

so ice and me take turn on spidey, leave the clutch and she pounces forward! woops i stall, reprogram my ecu and then its, jack and jill went up the hill, reverses backs the hill and then again up the hill.

yaaaaawnnnnnn its so boring and wonders how those road roller drivers spend their day, doing this, day in day out. Actually its that easy for the spidey, again round of applause on the money well invested!!

Meanwhile beast is crossing the wadi, those foot boards are in its way, otherwise she just weaves in and out, with a touch of wheel spin while climbing up the hill.

Weight + Torque + Tires + Smooth articulation = Envy for many watching

So as i said beast has got a number or two up its sleeves. Mind you this is 3L ver 1 dicor and not 2.2

Spidey goes on its business as usual, while shan is thinking why others cant drive fast on this highway!

The CJ who went exploring! Oops loose mud and sand and nose in. See in such a situation easiest task is attach the toe rope and pull her back. But hey this is OTR and BLR boys, so they need some more excitement.

First thing turn the jeep, that winch is oh so awesome! battery drainer but it can shake off the mud and turn the CJ around. Ok now winch back, well NO again. Do it in reverse and oopssssssssss!

No worries winch out! Ok thats CJ doing its thing to mark its territory and finally tug from the safari and winch out to freedom. Battery was lil run down so idle her.

Spidey needs some thrills and finally manages a level 1 hurdle for itself, only place where it had to go for a try 2

So we continue wading and marsh landing, and reach the slush with 90deg turn and 30-40 deg climb lolz. Get stuck, get pulled by the CJ (man she is a torque bomb), where as the truck with good set of rubbers manages to climb up with a lil more calculation from its rider.

Oh these guys got on the wrong side of the river, who wants to drive back. Especially with such friendly folks on the other side. MM 1 jumps in, realizes its 2 wheel drive engaged. Engages 4 wheel and zooms to the shore.
