Have to agree with you there Rahul. I am still sleeping off the fatigue !

Unfortunately the deeper you get into offroading the less keen you get on photography,..no pictures to show for here either.

Hopefully one of the last few OTR's without my own CJ3B.

It was a good muddy otr. Met up with a large number of 4x4 enthusiasts, and just to prove how much fun I had here is a list of damage sustained:

One flat tire with a torn sidewall; tire completely destroyed.

One tire with a damaged bead; might be repairable, might also be a bent rim.

Damaged exhaust line that bend up on a large rock, and jammed the clutch linkage, and front drive shaft.

Some pics are posted. Please note the pic of a Jeep pulling out a Trax. Kidding aside, I was very impressed with the Trax. It is a very capable off-roader.

A total of 3 winch pulls, 2 pulling out other vehicles, 1 self extraction.

My best one till date no doubt about it!!!

Everything about the OTR was great the vehicles, mud, slush, light drizzling, mountain climbs, the food!!! But all this wouldn't have been possible without fellow members of NIOC and credit should be given to the weather gods too!!!

You name the requirement for a good OTR we guys had it yesterday. Mud, Slush, loose sand, rain, challenging terrain, mountain climbs, lovely weather, good food, but nothing would have been this great without the high spirits of the fellow jeepers and members of NIOC all of whom were on time at 5.30 am.
I myself was a little late (10 min) but did play catchup with the convoy at Haldirams on NH8

Excellent OTR, it was worth travelling 500 kms to and fro for it. Perfect trail and perfect weather plus perfect offroaders. Only very few pics and a video to follow.

Entrance of the trail a track of about 1.5 or 2 kms with tall elephant grass and about 1 feet deep slushy water through out.

Hi Amit,

Judging by the amount of pain & soreness in my left arm today, I would have to say that the gearbox is the old 4 speed. I think that even tractors have smoother gboxs than this unit.

Yeah in mud I have got stuck n number of times. Guess the issue is with my driving skills and the tyres of the vehicle.

As you said this OTR I have been very much impressed by the power of Gurkha. Even in one of the steep incline which was almost vertical, and vehicles had to cross with use of brakes. We were advised no to try that in our "heavy vehicle" and the advise we got was to use breaks and leave it to lift the vehicle up while going down. Myself and Naveen were in the vehicle and it went down in such a controlled manner that we were Surprised and yes NO break was used.

In the climbs it did very well. In fact was able to follow Sarvinder Ji on a hill where the other vehicles struggled. And same was the case at another incline.

I guess once I change to NDMS or something like that this vehicle might be highly practicable and would give less suffering to my Jeep brothers as they always have to pull me out from slush.

This was fun. When we left it was still dark. it was a great experience going through the Elephant grass, the lovely green vegetated hills and the sand plains and mud wallows.

The rain made it even a better day to be out in the hills.

I discovered that a Canvas top can leak when rainwater accumulates on a sagged canvas top, so the cameras and phones were sealed in plastic bags and never came out.

We had some great food and the great spirit of NIOC was for everyone to enjoy to the hilt.

I didn't drive at all, the whole day, just relaxed on the Navigaotor seat with Aditya driving, except for one climb where I took over, it was difficult for a new offroader.

The guys had a lot of fun doing donuts in one of the sandy areas from where we turned back finally.

On July 19 and Aug 15, both times we have had to return from this point. Next time lets start from where we left to explore the Badshahpur extension trail as well.

this was my best OTR ever. I had a flat in the OE tyres once as well but these performed way better than the H/T radials that I had on earlier. I was very happy with them (thanks again to Arjun).... before I risk sounding like a actor who has just won an award I will stop thanking any more people!!
