Ah happy, I only meant to show the day from my POV. It was challenging and very very different from Sarjapur. I believe at least the running boards would have taken a hit if not the bumpers/clutch. Wish you were there to see it.

It was my first OTR as a spectator !!! All until now I had seen only pics in here..But this time it was a "live experience"...As an addition to my excitement, a camera was handed over to me by Vijay..It was really nice taking pics of jeeps in actions.

It was drizzling when we left bangalore but by the time actual OTR started, Sun was all over us !!! As it was a first experience, out of excitement, i never realized it!!

@Santosh : All the pics taken by my are in Vijay Sir's Camera..I hope he will upload them soon...I am waiting !!!

And after you all left, the OTR was taken to a different level at Country Club !!!!

I missed it all man. I was waiting for this opportunity building my jeep step by step. But what an anti climax I had. I started at 5 30 from my home got in to NICE road and started ripping her. Was going at constant 70 75 . And suddenly after fifteen minutes the 4th gear disengaged itself with a popping sound. Didnt care much at that time . Slotted her again to fourth and continued my drive.

It was only after I reached the meeting point that I noticed that the 1st and 2nd gears were not engaging. And to my utter dismay the reverse was also not engaging. I was really devastated.

Still went on gamely to the OTR place and saw all others . Santosh has already described how Suresh sir and Dwarak sir got stuck in th canal. It was really great to see them trying valiantly to get out of the trouble.

I at last got stuck in a small ascent and got winched out and decided that i will head home and repair my jeep for the next OTR .

I do have some photos of the intial scenes . Will upload them ASAP.

Suresh Stephen was the 1st to take the tricky rivulet (canal) crossing. After 10mins~, he winched himself out. Later Dwarak agreed to toss a coin (hehehe) to see if he can take the same route. Toss decided he goes in and after 15mins~, he got winched out by Suresh

Problem - Baburajs Red CJ340 came into the trail with 1,2,R gears not engaging. He took the risk of getting stuck and boy did he get stuck at the main road itself!!!. Too bad he was winched out by swastikviji and later he left back home. (We missed you babu, it was a good day, more so, we missed the 30Ltr diesel spare you had - Read ON WHY?)

It was a ascend, ripped open down the middle due to running rain water. The trench in the middle was any where between 1 feet DEEP to a full 5 feet DEEP. As usual Suresh made small work out of it.

After a photo shoot, we got out of there and meanwhile a few on foot had climbed to the highest peak nearby. We reached the spot and took a LONG break, hiking by all except a few (tired). We broke off from there and took a alternative challenging route back down. Similar rocky terrain with trenches and lots of Sheep.
On top of the peak.

overall, my sandgrips did extremely well. i was more than satisfied. The overall height also proved to be advantageous dodging the rocks and stones.

my wife and my friends sireesh and prem enjoyed the day a lot.
Thanks to dwarak, suresh stephen, swastik, staraqua, mukund and all the others who made it a wonderful dayout. Also, thanks to the lovely ladies who came along.

Regards,
Krishna.

Ah!! Wonderful pictures. By the looks of it, seems like a few regulars had to give this event a miss.

Damn, I have to get my 4*4 operational soon. Anyways, more pictures please.

Regards

Rahul

Mukund / viji,

Great photos.

What we have observed during the OTR is terrain is not very challenging, but doable by all 4 WD with no hiccups.

Advice to newbies - Please lend your ears and eyes to the person guiding you through.
When you are in the team, do not take short cuts and easy cuts. Sometimes may end up in jeapardy. Allow the mods/ seniors to guide instead of you guiding the driver.

Overall, the event was good with participation and comraderie.

I saw more photographers on the spot. How about sharing them .
