I guess there's a first time for everything. Make that + 2 for me & another bhpian TLCFJ55. We won't be involved in the offroading but would be coming to meet the fellow bhpians. It's been a while

Indeed & considering that it was my first, as a spectator, I can only imagine what would it be like to drive a jeep. Thanks a ton to fellow jeepers who were more than willing to accommodate and drop us back to the "desi" land cruiser. Felt bad about the "ladies special" episode for Randeep but look at it this way, nazar pattu zaroori hai. The jeep looks slick!

A teaser from today's OTR. More to come with a detailed pen-down

Yes a gr8 OTR. My Son and his friend had a gr8 time. Both the guys till today were just talking about OTR making their moms go wild. It was fun to know how many words they picked and working of the vehicles. They posed me so many queries that after 10 minutes I was like - Even I never thought about this!!

I just loved it this time. All the vehicles performed brilliantly and team building is one exercise which just happens in this OTR besides OTR fun.

Pics?

Guys! All i've been hearing is 'what a great OTR'. But where are the pics to prove it?

Unfortunately, had to pull out of this one at the last minute. Was so looking forward to the OTR. I'm sure I missed a great one.

NIOC OTR November 1, 2009- Detailed Report

"Yaar, Uday Bhan Singh is a legend in vintage cars"
"So that means you're giving your Land cruiser to him for restoration?"
"No! Not yet, but he's mentioned that there's an OTR happening on Nov1, organised by NIOC. Chaley Kya?"
"Chal"

This is how it started for my friend and me being attendees to our first ever OTR, this one organized by mods of NIOC for November 1,2009. The bug of "Jeeping" had hit us a while back with my friend even purchasing a FJ 55, but how much worse it has got after attending the OTR, only time will tell

Communication via a few PM's with Willy's MB, confirmed our passive participation for the OTR. What lay ahead of us completely blew us away

November 1,2009 @ 06:30 am, approaching Signature towers.
" pakka hain naa aaj ka programme"
"Yaar, PM main to confirm kiya tha, ab pata nahin"
"Chal, ab aa gayey hain aur koi nahin aaya, tow hum hi ghoom aayenge."
"Lol"
"Pechaangey kaisey?" "Woh dekh ek jeep gayee"
and that was the start of it all
We followed the jeep (Trax Gurkha) to the "Kuchha raasta" right next to signature towers. Heads turned as the Land cruiser approached but they turned each time a fellow jeeper came.
The attendees to the event along with Randeep's much awaited ..... ( Randeep - haven't thought of a name yet for her?)

Pleasantries were exchanged and by 06:50 everyone (11 and a half jeeps) was on their way to the OTR site.......

EDIT - The above pictures are borrowed from a fellow jeeper

We arrived soon at the designated rendezvous point near village Kherki Dhaula, situated close to the NH8. After ensuring that everyone had arrived and also clarifying that the Land Cruiser was not equipped to handle the terrain without the 4*4, it was agreed upon to park the FJ 55 near the starting point of the trail.
Everyone started and we followed into the unknown. So paranoid were we, that we even decided to let all the other jeeps go, fearing that we might get stuck but Amit (I guess) was the one who encouraged us to get in and this is what we encountered as our very first step
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-nov1_0001.jpg

and then this as the dust and speed picked up. Couldn't drive, couldn't shoot and was hanging onto dear life
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-nov1_0002.jpg

Finally, managed to heave a sigh of relief as we managed to spot the getaway as the dust settled. We weren't lost and the baby steps were in the right direction.
How did the getaway perform with the not so short wheelbase and the overhang and the side wall cut and almost no spare tyre - that's another story

Soon after the FJ 55 was parked and the ascend began NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-nov1_0003.jpg

and voilla, here we are at the top - Oops! what's the hurdle
