The hurdle was nothing but a bump in the road (Pun intended) and then each one of us made it to the top and moved onto checkpoint # 2

The getaway

At this point, i'd like to share that while everyone else was climbing to the top using the 4*4, the scorpio managed to climb most of the terrain in the 2W mode Only on sand, was the 4W drive used
The one's which did use 4*4, it eventually had to engage "MAN"ual mode. More on this tomorrow

Hi, Married2speed,

Hope you guys enjoyed the OTR ? Looking forward to more OTR's with you guys. Suggest, pls go for a 4x4 so that you guys enjoy more. There is nothing more enjoying then driving your own 4x4 on an OTR.

Cheers

After checkpoint # 1 was achieved, it was time to move on.

The 2 Willy's of Sarvinder sir and RB sir were the first to try out everything. If they could do it, (for the reason of safety) it as assumed that the rest could also do it or at least, they could try doing it without any high risk and so it began

Attempt # 1

Never Mind, we'll go again. Attempt # 2

While this jeeper got tantalizingly close to the top, it never quite made it up there but if there were any points being given for putting up a spirited show,it would certainly be for him.

With the gypsy struggling for traction, it paved way for the others. To prove critics wrong, where the gypsy bashing began, another gypsy came to the image rescue and earned a well deserved applause from Laxman sir

and made it with ease

This gave the others the heart and the route to climb up. The gurkha needed only seconds, before it reached the top

The others followed with Harjeev in tow .........
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-063.jpg

and eventually the top.....Stopped for a chat eh'
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-066.jpg

However, there were eyes on 1 and only 1 gypsy.
Unaffected by it's previous failures and unruffled by the terrain, it was time to floor the pedal down and let the engine grunt all it could. Since when has a "KING" taken things lightly. So a last ditch attempt (literally )was made to salvage some pride.

With the gypsy getting stubborn every passing minute, and a tangible result not in sight, the driver was changed to cool her down

While the efforts continued by all and mighty, the temperamental sweetheart that it was being, she showed us her humorous side and developed an oil leak
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-109.jpg

All this made the other jeeps jealous and the Willy's decided to eat some more dirt. It quietly sneaked away from the prying eyes of everyone else
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-069.jpg

And soon it made it's intentions clear leaving all of us in awe.

With the willy's making it's own road and the attention now being diverted from the struggling gypsy due to worn tyres and lack of engine compression, off roading skills were put to test

Attempt # 1

With time passing by and surprisingly the weather getting warmer, it was decided to cool things down. However, they cooled down just a tad more for Amit
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-124.jpg

After having cooled the gypsy down and not bothered by the oil leak, it was time to test her patience again.
NIOC NCR Morning OTR 1st Nov. Sunday-nioc-otr-nov-12009-128.jpg

This time, she responded wonderfully although only for a short period of time.

and how happy she looked after she was pulled out

This made Randeep test deeper waters

Amit's 540 seems to be quite the chameleon. It was blue in summer and is now beige in winter

Wow! Sand blasting is happening amazingly well. That particular incline is too challenging with sand shifting and less grip for the tyres. Slush seems have inspired offroaders more.

Great photos by all.

married2speed - great pics. Excellent writeup of the events. Keep it coming.

Rohit's gypsy had road tyres hence it was not doing the sany inclines very well whereas my gypsy has OE tyres which are good for off-road use but not great on road.

Cheers
